.Call question
Writing R Ext says to treat R objects that are arguments to .Call as
read only (i.e. don't modify).
I have a long list of lists that and I want to avoid the overhead of a
copy in my C code. I would just like to modify some of the elements
of list by replacing them with elements of exactly the same size/type.
below is an example of the essence of the problem. This seems to work.
Is this

samba 3.0.23d with ldap compile problem
Hi,
I'm trying to compile samba 3.0.23d for use with ldap as backend.
The system is Debian Sarge fresh installed, all updates installed, and
openldap-2.3.27 installed from sources.
I searched a lot but couldn't google out anythink that helped.
I sent this same mail jesterday with configure options for ldap, ld.so.conf
and samba error.log but it was too long. So another time with less

Error in svg() : cairo-based devices are not supported on this build
Hello,
Sorry if it is not the right place..
I installed R-2.13.0 on a x86_64 linux server.
All went fine, but the svg() function yells:
> svg()
Error in svg() : cairo-based devices are not supported on this build
I have the Cairo, cairoDevice, RSvgDevice packages installed, and running.

Using ldap to check last password modification date
Thanks Rowland. That makes sense :-)
BTW, Is the following code enough to change the password with python-ldap?
con.sasl_interactive_bind_s("", sasl_auth)
mod_attrs = [
(ldap.MOD_REPLACE, 'unicodePwd', new_password),
(ldap.MOD_REPLACE, 'unicodePwd', new_password)
]
con.modify_s('CN=%s,CN=Users,DC=lxc,DC=com % username, mod_attrs)
Thanks!

Norberto

functions on rows or columns of two (or more) arrays
I realize this should be simple, but even after reading over the several
help pages several times, I still cannot decide between the myriad "apply"
functions to address it. I simply want to apply a function to all the rows
(or columns) of the same index from two (or more) identically sized arrays
(or data frames).
For example:

LDAP access to Samba 4
Hello,
I am currently migrating from OpenLDAP to Samba 4 PDC, and I have a webpage (PHP/Apache) available for users so that they can change their password on the existing LDAP server.
I attempted to adjust that script to change the password on the Samba 4 AD controller, but I get a "cannot connect" error to LDAP. The web server the password script is running on is not on the same

change primaryGroupID - unwilling to perform
My tool is growing fast and it takes me to the finishing line for
setting up my new user database. But nw I came across another strange issue:
I'd like to change the primaryGroupID. It is currently set to 513, which
simply does not exist. I wanted to set to 100, which exists and actually
the user is a member of this group, but then I get the following exception:
ldap.UNWILLING_TO_PERFORM:

Using ldap to check last password modification date
Hello,
For a portal I'm working on, I need to know if changing the unicodePwd
attr with LDAP also updates pwdLastSet (so the account doesn't get
locked). It seems the answer is yes, but the value I get from
pwdLastSet is somewhat weird:
pwdLastSet: 130753269490000000
That is Wed, 08 Jun 2011 11:31:34 GMT
Why? Is that epoch or something else? Is there anything else I need to
update when

apply lm function to dataset split by two variables
Dear all,
I am not fluent in R and am struggling to 1) apply a lm to a weight-size
dataset, thus the model has to run separately for each species, each
year; 2) extract coefs, r-squared, n, etc. The data look like this:

How can I have new users/groups to include posixAccount/posixGroup schema automatically?
Greetings, Rowland Penny!

No. smbldap-tools were doing exactly the same as AD do: kept all users in one
database.

I never had separate unix users ever (aside from one
