Cannot Join Samba 4.1 to an existing Windows 2008 domain as a Backup DC
Hi Everybody, I'm stumped. I'm pretty sure I've tried everything to get this to work. I'm trying to join my CentOS 6 server to my Server 2008 AD Domain. I'm using SerNet's samba4 packages: [root at files ~]# samba -V Version 4.1.4-SerNet-RedHat-7.el6 I've done the xattr and acl tests and they all come out just fine. So I don't think it has to do with ACLs

NFSv4 delegation
Hi, Just out of curiosity what is in nfsv4 delegation that you think would give a benefit on your configuration? If I read back the thread you seem to have dovecot configured with director ring in front of the backends. In that case Dovecot already manages storage in a way that only one of the backends is accessing each users data at a time. So I can?t see anything but problems form enabling

Samba4 & Delegation
Hi, It has been a while that I did not come back to this topic, however I think I found a work-around for my initial problem. For information, what I was trying to do was: - Create an OU for a group of applications - Delegate control of this OU to a normal user (not helpdesk or domain admin) to be able to create groups and assign domain users to them The problem was, whenever I

Local Administrators (group) and delegation in AD
Hi all! We have got many delegations in our AD. To add a certain administrator group to the local Administrators group you can use GPO for Windowsservers. As Samba does not understand GPO I have initially used the "username map" feature to add a domain account to become root. After the appropriate group is added via Computer Management MMC by the delegated administrator, the line

Reverse DNS, Kerberos, and Samba4 as a DC
Hey everyone, I'm one of those crazy people willing to try setting up Samba4 alpha in a small production environment as a DC. I've followed the Samba4 HowTo (which is excellent by the way) and have a domain setup and functioning in a test environment. My production network, however, is not quite as nice as my test network. I have convinced IT (I work for a group of research

PPPoE client help
Please point me in the right direction.... My ISP is giving me an IPv6 prefix, but to get that I have to: The current Speedstream ADSL router will be configured as a bridge. I will have to set up a Linux (read Centos, I hope) router that will connect ethernet to the Speedstream but run PPPoE to his network and get both the IPv4 and IPv6 route delegations. There is no easy way that I know of

[5.10] PXE + dhcp opts 209, 210 and path issues in tftp/http
Hello, First, this setup works fine without any error in syslinux 4.06 as show below. For convenience, both versions of syslinux 4.06 [#1] and 5.10 [#2] directories (~2MB each) are uploaded ready for test. As said before, this is tested on qemu-1.5.0 + dnsmasq 2.66 in Arch Linux @ 64-bit. If more info is needed, please let me know. Good luck! Relevant directory structure is at

AD + Double Hop + Kerberos Delegation
Hello all, I am running v3.4.5 of Samba. Does this version support double hop kerberos authentication? I turned the log level up to 3 and found that it is passing only the hostname. This leads me to believe that the double hop part is not working. I did read that it is supposed to work in Samba4 via http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2005-November/043912.html but wasn't sure

Samba4 & Delegation
Hello, Not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but since I am running a Samba4 DC I thought I'd start here. I have create a separate OU to manage Groups and Users for Applications: 1) ou=myappX,ou=app,dc=mydomain,dc=home All Users (and other groups, e.g. Domain Users) are obviously found in : 2) cn=users,dc=mydomain,dc=home So I created a service

Samba4 Backup DC DNS Issues
Hi, I?m having issues with Samba4 as a backup DC on a Windows server domain. The Linux machine (on CentOS 6.4) and a compiled version of Samba 4.0.7 has joined the domain fine, and I?ve manually added the DNS entries as required. I?ve attempted this with both a BIND backend and the internal backend, but both times I?ve run into problems with DNS updates. When using the internal database
