Successes an failures with Samba 4.3.9 and FreeBSD-10.3
OK. "net cache flush" worked (dunno why a restart isn't equivalent, but
hey). So let's start peeling back other issues!

Problems with 2 DCs.
Hello,
I've set up 2 DCs.
The first as been set up using the command:
samba-tool domain provision ?
The second, using the command:
samba-tool domain join <realm> DC?
As far as command return status say the commands went well.
Using only the first DC, I can add windows client to the domain, I can
manage users, everything seems to be ok.
When adding the second DC, users database is

report on issue of samba_upgradedns
Hi,
This is just a report I wanted to share. Maybe someone can put it on the wiki. I created a
new DC for a new site using the samba internal dns option. Later, I decided to go with
bind. So I ran the command, and got this error:
[root at theoden ~]# samba_upgradedns --dns-backend=BIND9_DLZ --verbose
Reading domain information
DNS accounts already exist

Samba4 join new DC: No RID Set DN - Failed to add RID Set
Hi,
I have a Samba4 domain consisting of two 4.0.6 Samba servers, in two
different AD sites.
I am trying to join a new 4.0.7 Samba server as a DC.
Previously, I had had some issues caused by hardware failure of one of the
DCs; I have learnt my lesson about checking backups properly, as it took me
a surprisingly (for me) long time to recover from this (there was no FSMO
after the failure and I

TSIG error with server: tsig verify failure
Hello,
I still receive this error in my log.samba and when running
'/samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names'. Has this been fixed
completely? Searching through the archives I see this post
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2013-February/090408.html.
Using Samba 4.1.7 with Ubuntu Server 12.04. My understanding is the
update still succeeds but the error is

Samba File Share Encryption How To?
Hello,
Can someone please point me to documentation on encrypting a file
share? Looking to have data created on a Windows workstation backed up
and saved on a Samba file share across a WAN link. Currently using IPsec
so I assume I'm good on the transport end? Thanks.

Accidental samba_dnsupdate success after NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED
Greetings,
The process to join a new samba 4.6 DC to an existing samba 4.1 DC
repeatedly caused:
samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names
to fail on the new DC with:
Failed to connect host x.x.x.x on port 49152 - NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED
Noted: both samba versions are obsolete and will be updated post haste.
Regardless, samba_dnsupdate was accidentally invoked on the new DC while

Failed to connect host on port 135 - NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED
Hello,
I've been trying to install Samba4 for a while now, following the
instructions over at:
http://linuxdrops.com/install-samba-4-on-centos-rhel-fedora-debian-ubuntu/
However, when I get to the stage where I should be able to join the
domain with a Windows machine (7, not XP) I run into networking issues.
For one, my network is behind a NAT so I can't just use a public DNS for

And please also do check
hostname -s
hostname -d
hostname -f
if you see somewhere 127.0.0.1 or incorrect hostname.
Check /etc/hosts

Accidental samba_dnsupdate success after NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED
im betting here on a smb.conf that was not 4.6 compliant.
port 49152 is not related i my opinion.
is there a firewall running?
the dynamic port range changed from a low range to high.

Louis,
I ran your "1-setup-sernet-samba4-ADDC-wheezy.sh" script and noticed
