Internal DNS migrate to Bind9_DLZ
It is part of the Sernet packages and is currently on 1.3.4
/usr/lib64/samba/libldb.so.1.3.4
We started using sernet-samba-ad from v4 using the internal dns and updated
as versions were released. We have now recently updated from 4.8.2 to 4.8.3
and still using internal dns.
Our DNS is working as it should, it's only been since recently that we have
to migrate to bind9.

how to allow ISC dhcpd to add/update entries to bind9 with bind_dlz (samba4)
Hello all,
I have set up a samba4 server with bind9 and the bind_dlz module.
Everything is working as it should but now I need to allow the dhcp
server to add entries to the forwarding zone. Has anybody implemented
such a configuration ? Can this be done with the kerberos DNS dynamic
update configuration.
I want to achieve the following:

Internal DNS migrate to Bind9_DLZ
Hai,
Did you make sure that your root and localhost zones are loaded last in the bind config.
The order matters, at least if you also use bind_DLZ.
I suggest, you try it.
Im Just thinking about this, if your . (root) zone is loaded, and its trying to lookup you company.corp domain.
It hits resolv.conf then you bind, and bind_dlz is not loaded yet, so lookup on the internet.
Its a possible

Internal DNS migrate to Bind9_DLZ
Hello All,
So I’ve been playing around, setting a test site and some test data.
When doing the migration from internal dns to bind dlz then it works perfect.
Using the same configuration on my production env it still fails.
Could my database be corrupt somehow on 1 of my 7 dc’s?
Really struggling to get this working.

Pc's not added (shown) to AD after remove and re-add.
Hai,
?
After some "strange" pc problems with pc-domain trust i did some digging.
Im pretty sure this is a samba bug, if someone can verify this.
?
My steps.
?
- Setup a win10 pc, static ip.
- Join the domain.
?
And its shown in AD and DNS.
Turn of the pc.
?
but, now next, set a new pc, use the same name but a different IP.
join the domain.
login and turn the pc offf

I have configured my Samba as AD with BIND9_DLZ as backend and trying to

I suggest, run :

Anonimize it where needed, and show me your server setup.

Bind_DLZ and two AD DC
My first Active Directory setup had two DC's and shortly after getting
things going the second DC created a hardware failure issue and I just
continued life with one DC.
Now, while upgrading I am returning to two DC's.
In a normal Bind9 "master and slave" setup the master always "feeds" the
slave.
With Bind9_DLZ setup (recommended to be used with Samba4) there is

Where does bind9 DLZ store it's database for Samba4
I have installed the TKL Samba4 appliances as well as a bind 9.9.5 with the
--with-gssapi and --with-dlopen compile options.
I would like to replicate the DNS from this DC to several other
geographically diverse Bind servers.
We do NOT want to spin up more DCs, we JUST want to replicate the DNS (this
requirement is coming from above me and must be met).
So my question is, what database does

Joining a Windows Server 2008 R2 to existing Samba4 domain
Hi Rowland,
Just saw your message on the lists about adding a tombstone command by
using domain.py.
I appear to have domain.py
in /usr/local/samba/lib/python2.7/site-packages/samba/netcmd, do I need to
do something to activate this?
Thanks,
Chris.
