two lines in axis title combined with 'substitute' command
Hello, I want to have the x-axis title of my plot in 2 lines, centered: experiment 1: log2(Ratio H/L) I know that in principle that works with '\n'. However, I am also using the 'substitute' command for my axis title. However, it does not make a new line. What I have so far: logbase <- 2 test <- "bait" cellline <- "cellline" plot(

Problem adding user to Administrator list
Hi, all, We are using Samba 3.0.10 with an LDAP backend. It's been working fine for a long time. One strange thing that has come up today : I cannot add 1 specific domain user to the local Administrator group of Windows servers that are also in the domain. Adding the user to the admin group on a workstation works just fine. Adding other users to the admin group on the Windows servers

samba, pdc, ldap question
I have a question for those of you out there. I work at a university where we already have our ldap systems in place and use them for almost all authentication. I would like to implement a samba file server that authenticates of our existing ldap server. Would the best solution be to have samba authticate off of ldap through pam. Is this even available. Can anyone point me in the right

Problem with pxelinux 5.0 and memtest
Hello, This is my first post to this list. After searching through the archives and google searches I could not find a solution for my memtest problem. In previous versions of pxelinux/gpxelinux (4.04 and 4.06) I could successfully start the memtest utility. But using pxelinux/gpxelinux versions 5.01 and 5.02 the memtest utility does not boot and I get an error message: boot: Loading

[Weft QDA users] working on team using weft
Hi all! I am Angela, an Italian researcher and I am looking for an application that allows working in team, making a shared codebook, share a text database and code it. I tried AnSWR (the CDC''s QDA application) but its installation is too complicated for students and it is not working on latest version of Windows. What about Weft? Is it possible to share a project or, at least, merge

Samba Ldap Understanding
Hello Andrew and all, I have a question about Ldap and Samba. I've implemented samba in the past, but never with LDAP. I tried reading the Howto, however it seems that most of the examples are lean more toward using OpenLdap. I'd like to know about using Samba with and external LDAP server provided by a third party (ie Iplanet or other). ** How do I ensure that Samba work with third

Variable Importance in pls: R or B? (and in glpls?)
Dear R-users, dear Ron I use pls from the pls.pcr package for classification. Since I need to know which variables are most influential onto the classification performance, what criteria shall I look at: a) B, the array of regression coefficients for a certain model (means a certain number of latent variables) (and: squared or absolute values?) Random Forests in R
I understand the original implementation of Random Forest was done in Fortran code. In the source files of the R implementation there is a note "C wrapper for random forests: get input from R and drive the Fortran routines.". I'm far from an expert on this...does that mean that the implementation in R is through calls to C functions only (not Fortran)? So, would knowing C be

random Forests
Hi, I have a data set with 1000 observations and 260 predictors. The predictor variables are all ordinal. There are 2 classes labeled as, F and T with class proportions of 0.44 and 0.56, respectively. In a call to the function randomForest() with mytry=1 and nodesize=1 and ntree=100 the resulting classifier puts all observations in class T. When I change nodesize to nodesize=5 I get the

Bias correction for random forests?
Hi, Way back in 2004, an update to randomForest added an option 'corr.bias'. The explanation was a bit vague, but it turns out it improves RF's predictive fit with my data substantially. But I am having trouble understanding it. Does anyone know what this 'bias correction' actually does? Or what the justification for it is? Or when it would be necessary? Is there a paper
