Updating Samba AD from 4.1 to latest stable
Hi All, After reading the list for a while I have a question myself. I have the task of upgrading a couple of systems and one of them is the office AD infrastructure from a Samba-4.1 installation to the latest stable version. I already did a concept of proof by incrementally compiling versions 4.2/3/4/5/etc to the then latest stable 4.10 and it seemed to work out OK but was a lot of work. I had a

Request for Comments: Upgrades from 3.x to 4.0+
if doing an upgrade from 3.10.1 to 4.0 or 4.1, will I be able to access volume without any challenge? I am asking this because 4.0 comes with DHT2? Very short answer, yes. Your volumes will remain the same. And you will continue to access them the same way. RIO (as DHT2 is now known as) developers

We're fast approaching the time for Gluster-4.0. And we would like to set out the expected upgrade strategy and try to polish it to be as user friendly as possible. We're getting this out here now, because there was quite a bit of concern and confusion regarding the upgrades between 3.x and 4.0+. --- ## Background Gluster-4.0 will bring a newer management daemon, GlusterD-2.0 (GD2),

Fast Network Bridge
Hi, I''m working a lot with xen and migration. Now I switched to Xen 4.2 which is really nice. But there is one big problem. A performence issue. I used Xen 4.1 with a networkbridge by using the following line in the vm-config: vif = [ "bridge=eth0,script=vif-bridge" ] In Xen 4.2 this is not possible anymore so that i have entered the following in my /etc/network/interfaces: #

does RIO improves folder listing and rebalance, when compared to 3.x? if yes, do you have any performance data comparing RIO and DHT? Will the various client packages (centos in my case) be able to automatically handle the upgrade vs new install decision, or will we be required to do something manually to determine that? It?s a little unclear that things will continue without interruption because of the way you describe the change from GD1 to GD2, since it sounds like it stops GD1. Early days, obviously, but if you could

Upgrading from old 4.1 sernet-samba AD to source release with AD
Hi guys, I have sernet-samba-client-4.1.21-11.el6.x86_64 with 5 DC's running in AD mode and I need to look at upgrading them to the latest source version of Samba with AD support. All servers are running Centos 6.x and the same Samba release. I see the Wiki mentions "Upgrade A DC and join it to the domain again" however I'm not sure in terms of upgrading how this process will

[Gluster-devel] Request for Comments: Upgrades from 3.x to 4.0+
Just so I am clear the upgrade process will be as follows: upgrade all clients to 4.0 rolling upgrade all servers to 4.0 (with GD1) kill all GD1 daemons on all servers and run upgrade script (new clients unable to connect at this point) start GD2 ( necessary or does the upgrade script do this?) I assume that once the cluster had been migrated to GD2 the glusterd startup script will be smart

We should be able to do this with CentOS (and other RPM based distros) which have well split glusterfs

Executing commands even if user hangs up.
Greetings, I have a dialplan that calls the dictate application, but I want to do some post-processing on the RAW file created. The post processing is working fine as long as the dictation application exits gracefully, but fails when the user simply hangs up. How can I make sure the system() command is run regardless? Example: [test-dictation] exten => 123,1,Dictate(/tmp/dictate) exten

Dovecot stable slow
A few days ago I installed dovecot stable to replace uw-imap. The install went well and all boxes were converted ok. When accessing the new imap server though, certain operations seem much slower, in particular, moving mail between boxes is very slow, and I have received several complaints from users that the mail server has slowed down. I can't figure out what the slow point is as maildir

Easy conversion/import/use of old samba databases(passwords) to samba4?
Background: A server running samba 3.6.3 on ubuntu 12.04 had a raid controller failure that also corrupted the disks. I set up temporary server by simply installing ubuntu 12.04 and copying over the configuration(/etc/samba, /var/lib/samba passwd shadow groups gshadow) from backup to a reserve workstation and it has worked fine as reserve server. Setup: uses a single server master domain

Naturally speaking under wine help needed
[[apologies if this is a dupe. gmane is a bit odd sometimes]] I need some help on a handicap accessibility project. It's really great for people like me that naturally speaking is working in wine (mostly). One important shortcoming is getting our dictated text into linux. Today, in order to copy text from the wine environment and place it in the Linux environment, we need to dictate into
