Fresh ad installation - Win2022 can't join
Good morning, and a Happy New Year ?
I'd like to setup a test-enviroment, based on Debian Bookworm and mjt's
4.19.3 packages.
samba is running as a Hyper-V vm, its ip is 192.168.178.37, its name is
dc.augusta.domain.tld
My idea is to use this dc for two networks (192.168.178.0/24 and
192.168.180.0/24) and for testing one Windows 2022 server
(192.168.178.34/24).

HTB stalling
Hi
Couple months ago I started to have a strange problem with HTB.
My setup is Fedora Core 2 + Pentium 2 233 + 128 MB of ram and its serving as
a router.
For some time since going to kernel 2.6 my HTB QoS Stalls for couple
seconds, every couple minutes. If the connection load is bigger the stalling
is more frequent and takes longer.
I isolated the problem to be with HTB (CBQ works fine).

DNS record info (samba-tool)
Even though you can create and delete DNS records I have been puzzling how you list records that might be in a zone?
samba-tool dns add SAMBA1.SAMBA4.LAN 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa 32 PTR SAMBA1.SAMBA4.LAN --username=administrator
say the above adds a record to 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa even if I do a zoneinfo on 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa
pszZoneName???????????????? : 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa

samba4 AD DNS zone corrupted
Hello everyone,
somehow I broke my DNS zone managed by samba4. Unfortunately, I'm out of
ideas and you are my last hope!
When I want to open it in Windows DNS administration MSC, I get the
following error when selecting the zone: "Zone Not Loaded by DNS Server".
When running regular DNS queries on that zone, everything works fine.
# host -t A mydomain.local
mydomain.local has

AD RODC not being used because of missing DNS entries?
Hi All,
Is it correct that my RODC domain controller (DC2.ad.example.nl) has only one entry in the (internal) DNS on domain controller DC1?
It seems to me that because of missing dns entries it is not used by clients in the ad domain
I recently installed a second Domain Controller (DC2) along the smooth running first domain controller DC1.
Samba version 4.8.5, Centos 7 Linux, further config

BIND DLZ zone transfers
I am looking at: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/DNS_administration
I am using bind 9.9 on all my DNS servers.
To set up secondarying my Samba DNS zones to my other Bind servers. I
come across the following:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9634
Is it possible to transfer the DLZ zones now as dates on this bug are 2
years old?

Maybe working - Re: BIND DLZ zone transfers
Hi Robert,
yes it does work. But the DLZ bind will not notify any slaves, when the
repository changes. This can be painful, especially for longer TTL values.

Please Help! Dynamic DNS just will not work: " failed gss_inquire_cred: GSSAPI error: Major = Unspecified GSS failure"
I just can't seem to get dynamic DNS updates working on CentOS 6.4 with
samba 4.0 .tar.gz from samba.org using BIND9_DLZ.
If I run bind 9.8.2.rc1 in debug mode and go to a domain joined windows
client and run 'ipconfig /registerdns' this is what I get in my console:

Is there some option on the slave to set the frequency of the AXFR? Say
every hour?

(S4) Neither AXFR nor authoritative nameserving available?
Hello all,
I'd like to have redundant DNS in our setup. But it seems that Samba 4
does not yet support AXFR with its internal DNS server. Alright, that's
fine, so I figured I'd configure the system such that at the very least,
a caching nameserver was sitting in front of it. However, that doesn't
work; the caching nameserver (BIND 9) returns SERVFAIL, apparently
because
