Rsync performance with large exchange database files
Clean copy. I even used the -W flag to see if it made a difference but,
nope.
I'm testing this same test on some of my other servers too. See if
there's any common-ground I can find.
On another servers (MS SQL Server) with faster disks I tried a similar
test just now. There's only the C drive on this server but I used my
same test file from the other server and used rsync (3.1.0)

[LLVMdev] problem trying to write an LLVM register-allocation pass
Thanks Lang, we are making progress! I no longer get the failed
assertion, but the code I'm using for vregs that don't get allocated a
preg, and thus need to be spilled and re-loaded is causing assembler errors.
I suspect the problem is my code for allocating space in the stack, but
I don't know how to fix it.
I've attached a new version of the simple register-allocation

[LLVMdev] problem trying to write an LLVM register-allocation pass
Hi Susan,
In x86-64 the REX prefix must be used to access an extended register
(r8-r15 and their aliases), but cannot be used when accessing the high byte
of the ABCD regs (AH, BH, CH, DH). In your test case you have hardcoded
%vreg1 to R8B, and %vreg15 to AH, and the test case contains a copy between
these registers. The copy simultaneously must have a REX prefix, and cannot
have a REX prefix,

How do I check the real size of a filesystem?
I'm having a spot of bother with a large (900GB) partition.
fdisk claims it's 900GB. I made an ext3 fs on it and df says it's only
94GB. Which is correct? Or did I do something wrong?

.glusterfs is over 900GB
Hey y'all, got a weird one for you.
I am unfortunately supporting this really weird Gluster volume, where it's a single-brick/single-node volume that has many files written every minute to it. Its very suboptimal, but I'm kind of stuck with it until the application team migrates off Linux 5 (yes... I know). gluster-server is running version 6.10, gluster-client is mounting via NFS as

two-factor linear models with missing cells
I am wondering how to interpret the parameter estimates that lm()
reports in this sort of situation:
y = round(rnorm(n=24,mean=5,sd=2),2)
A = gl(3,2,24,labels=c("one","two","three"))
B = gl(4,6,24,labels=c("i","ii","iii","iv"))
# Make both observations for A=1, B=4 missing

Error in combined for() and if() code
Hello,
I am trying to filter a data set like below so that the peaks in the Phase
value are more obvious and can be identified by a peak finding function
following the useful advise of Carl Witthoft. I have written the following
for(i in length(data$Phase)){
newphase=if(abs(data$Phase[i+1]-data$Phase[i])>6){
data$Phase[i+1]
}else{data$Phase[i]
}
}
I get the following error which I have not

Raid 1
Hi,
Is there a tutorial on how to setup raid 1? I like to install CentOS 4.3 on a 160GB SATA drive and do a mirror on another identical 160GB SATA.
Thanks

HVM domU doesnt start
Hello!
I''ve a ubuntu server running over a HVM DomU. After a hang, the domU doesn''t
start again.
The domU was not able to mount the virtual machine disk so I started with a
live cd and I tried to mount the disk root part / with no success so I ran
fsck.ext3 and it gave me input/output error in the domU and in dom0 the
kernel says:

700GB gone?
I have a 1.5TB disk that has several partitions. One of them is 900GB. Now I can only see 300GB. Where is the rest? Is there a command I can do to reach the rest of the data? Will scrub help?

Calculate Closest 5 Cases?
I've only begun investigating R as a substitute for SPSS.
I have a need to identify for each CASE the closest (or most similar) 5
other CASES (not including itself as it is automatically the closest). I
have a fairly large matrix (50000 cases by 50 vars). In SPSS, I can use Correlate > Distances to generate a matrix of similarity, but only on a small sample. The entire matrix can not

Reboots when importing old rpool
I have a fresh install of Solaris 11 Express on a new SSD. I have inserted the old hard disk, and tried to import it, with:
# zpool import -f <long id number> Old_rpool
but the computer reboots. Why is that? On my old hard disk, I have 10-20 BE, starting with OpenSolaris 2009.06 and upgraded to b134 up to snv_151a. I also have a WinXP entry in GRUB.
This hard disk is partitioned, with a

Configure File System for Shadow Copy
The goal is to build a file server.
I already have an LVM that was automatically created in the installation of Centos, including partitions below (sda1):
/Dev/mapper/centos-root
/Dev/mapper/centos-swap
I added a second disk on the server, which was identified as sdb.
If you need to configure the shadow copy only on an LVM, for my case, what do you advise:
- Create a new LVM only to the
