Creating windows binary R package (PowerArchiver vs. zip -r9X)
Hi list,I apologize if you see funny fonts, b/c I'm using the new Windows Live Hotmail and don't know how to turn off the "rich text" mode.....I have successfully built and installed a R package in windowsXP for R-2.5.1. But when I tried to create a .zip file so I can use "Packages/install package(s) from local .zip files..." to install it, it seems R only recognizes

Should I dump my Nvidia card from the less known brand "Gainward"?
Hi everyone.
I'm a big Free Software enthusiast and, therefore, I would very much like to use the nouveau free driver, instead of the proprietary one.
My problem is that, looking for the cheapest option available, when I needed to buy a new graphics card, 2 years ago, I decided for a model from a brand that I had never heard of - called "Gainward" - because I thought it had a

PeriodicalUpdater onComplete broken?
Using the PeriodicalUpdater, I''m finding the onComplete is not firing.
I thought I''d get some feedback here before filing a bug report.

The above are examples of this for prototype 1.6.0 & 1.6.0.1.
I''m expecting the onComplete to fire after the update takes place, per

[Sparc] builtin setjmp / longjmp - need help to get past last problem
Hi,
I'm implementing __builtin_setjmp and __builtin_longjmp for Sparc 32 bit processors (64 bit later, time allowing).
I'm basing the code on the PowerPC version, which itself is based on the X86 version.
This code is very nearly working, and I've had it working for -O0 optimisation (with a slightly different version to that below), so I know it's close.
However, the PowerPC

[CentOS5beta] kernel crash due to a known bug
After a successful installation of CentOS5 beta, I "successfully" crashed
the system twice already. This is caused by a known bug in the cifs
kernel module. The patch became available in January:
http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/sfrench/cifs-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=8e6f195af0e1f226e9b2e0256af8df46adb9d595
FC5 and FC6 are running the patched kernel but, unfortunately,

information about known issues/bugs
Hi
Where can I find more information about open bugs/
known limitations against Ext3. Also, is there any doc
giving planned features/tasks ?
It will be a big help if someone could point me to
this information.
Thanks,
Ash

getaddrinfo: nodename nor servname provided, or not known
Hi there,
If I want to create email within my application (in production), how
is this best achieved??
Following the railsspace tutorial, it only really suggests to
use :smtp.
I''d read on another site that to generate emails locally, i need to
use :sendmail instead... However - I havent seen any decent examples
of how to get this configured to be able to send emails within my

If I known d1 (density1), and dmix is a mix between d1 and d2 (d2 is unknown), can one infer d2?
Dear All,
I hope the title speaks by itself.
I believe that there should be a solution when I see what Mclust is
able to do. However, this problem is quite
particular in that d3 is not known and does not necessarily correspond
to a common distribution (e.g. normal, exponential ...).
However it must look like dmix and d1 to some extent.
To illustrate my problem I worked out a simple example:

SSH known host file should store port as well as host
Hello all, i just discovered that the known hosts file seems to only
store the server finger prints for distinct *hostnames/IPs*, not
hostnames/IPs and ports, meaning i can't ssh to a multiple boxes on
the same host even if they have different ports. Every client other
than the one shipped with openSSH seems to work fine, presumably
because they store fingerprints by host:port combinations
