Can't get authentication for masterusers on Mac OS X Server 10.6.8
Hi dovecot masters, This is my first post here, since I desperately need some advices from the dovecot community. I've tried to get an answer on the Apple Forums but til now no luck....here we go: I've tried to sync our users emails (Mac OS X Server 10.6.8 Snow Leopard with dovecot 1.1.20-apple0.5) via imapsync to our new server by using the masterusers authentication method on the old

OS X Server Partition Problems
I'm a nube to Dovecot and this list. Please be kind. ;) I'm running Dovecot 1.1.20 and Postfix 2.5.5 on OS X Server 10.6.6. I've moved accounts from another, older cyrus-based server (thank god), and used fetchmail to imap the existing mail to the new server. At some point, I developed a problem with my partition map being semi-ignored. Mail is stored in multiple places, and

Local delivery via deliver fails for 1 user in alias
Hi all, I'm a bit baffled. I have an OS X server 10.6.8 and everything was working fine. Now however I seem to be having some issues and I'm unable to find log entries to help point me to the error. I have an alias, sales at cirrusav.com, which forwards mail to myself and two others. This works fine most of the time, but on occasion messages are not delivered to one user. It is possible

Dovecot2 vs. AD, "Inactivity during authentication"
Hi, I'm trying to setup Dovecot2 for o IMAP client access o LDA for postfix mail delivery (with SIEVE) ... on a FreeBSD host. The FreeBSD server has no users (by intention), so I've set up a virtual mail domain, using LDAP lookups in Postfix. So far so good. Mail delivers into the proper mailbox. But I'm stuck getting Dovecot to authenticate. User- and passwd DB's are set

dovecot & Apple Mail & maildir & lots of Mail
Hi, Using Mac Mail with 9 mail accounts, more than 150 folders, and 1000s of mails, I get far too many problems lately, and not only on dovecot, so I would say the problem lies with Mac Mail, and even more if you installed Yosemite. As far as I know dovecot handle very well accounts with 100000s email even if the size is very big. And BTW, looking for a fast and reliable mail client for Mac, to

Index file (date timestamp) issue on OS X 10.6.2 Server
Hi, I've run into a bit of a problem and exhausted my knowledge and research. I'm hoping that I've overlooked something very obvious! I moved from a single Apple OS X 10.6.2 server Dovecot environment to a NFS clustered environment, currently with two servers. Both servers are identical hardware, software. Currently both the Dovecot index and data files are on the NFS RAID array.

Dovecot, AD and authenticated binds...
I posted earlier with reports of less than stellar success in using Active Directory for dovecot authentication. My approach is to using the two-step approach of - obtaining the user DN by a search using an authenticated bind (using a service account) - then binding as that DN, and returning the relevant user attributes This hasn't been succesful. Dovecot's authentication process does

Using AD, one more try - "successfol auth" and crashing auth process
Hi, I have no success in using AD with dovecot. The little checkpassword script I cooked up that uses ldapsearch to lookup a user DN (with an authenticated bind) and then ldapsearch with an authenticated bind for that DN again works well. * Approach 1: use a service account to bind to AD, lookup the user DN, and bind to that DN. It fails. The LDAP config looks like: hosts =

SASL plain authentication failed; unable to lookup user record
i'll guess the solution to my problem will be something simple and obvious, because i know i ain't the first person to do this and it ain't all that complicated, but i've been staring at it for days and can't see what's wrong. new installation; os x snow leopard server; postfix 2.5.5; dovecot 1.1.17apple0.5 i'm trying to get SMTP auth working via SASL. using a

Well, "Hard filesystem quota can also be problematic"
"Hard filesystem quota can also be problematic", quoth <http://www.dovecot.org/>. Since we actually use quota for our userbasg, this merited further investigation. Using 1.0-stable, we enabled quota on /var and /users filesystems, and set very low quota for a test account. Then we had some mail delivered on it, and we moved some messages about. At some point, Thunderbird

Apple patch 10
Patch #10 allows the pop3 and imap mail processes to handle multiple clients. We know this weakens the security model but it greatly increases scalability especially when clients are idle. Here's how it works. When there are no mail processes, or none serving fewer than mail_max_connections clients, the master creates a new mail process pretty much like it does now, but with some

New to dovecot, little luck - signal 10 death for imap
Hi, I'm a new prospective dovecot user. I'm planning to migrate a medium-scale mail site (a few thousand users) from UW to something better. I've set up dovecot on a test system. I can connect and authenticate just fine. IMAP clients get to see the right mailboxes. However, whenever a mailbox is selected, the imap subprocess dies. The log shows: Jul 13 14:52:05 localhost

Dovecot vs.Clients - strange behaviour, diagnostics sought
I've been experimenting with dovecot-1.0-stable on Solaris. Storage format is mbox. Dovecot, in test, runs in parallel with an UW IMAP, with dovecot running SSL-only on port 994. It seems to work to some extent: * dovecot runs * authentication works * SSL works * all manual IMAP functionality checks seem to work fine However, I'm running into issues with IMAP clients. * Null

access the se of a forecast
Hi everybody, I am currently trying to forecast some double seasonal time series by using the function dshw. I want to access the standard errors to build the confident interval for my forecast. I am using to following code : fit<-dshw(eem,period1=7,period2=48,h=48) then by using summary(fit), I see that my se are contained in the vector : $s20 but when I call fit$s20, I get NULL. I

Fuction Error
I'm calling a list of symbols and then using a function to build a data frame from that symbol list. It works great until I introduce this index symbol from yahoo '^GSPC'. When and index symbol is introduced I get and error which is below. > Data <- symbolFrame(symbols) Error in get(S) : object '^GSPC' not found Since R does not like the ^ in front of a name it

quick, quick, slow...
Hi, I'm (still) evaluating dovecot for a switch from UW in the near future. All the following happens on a Solaris server. Functionally, all is well. However, I see strange phenomena. Normally, dovecot is pretty swift. Every now and then, though, things slow down to a crawl. Everything seems to be working, still, but a few orders of magnitude slower. A copy of an outgoing message (of a

high imap load on large folders
Hello, i sync with imapsync from an archiopteryx-server to an dovecot-server, for testing until now. The dovecot is inside an VM. storage for mail is on an nfs-share, indexes are local. What i now see, is, on large folder( 58000 messages and more) the load on the imap-process is very high, and slowdown the transferprocess. Is there something, I can do. Whats cause the high load ind the

About lossless and point stereo
Hi, I've read the Vorbis stereo documentation on square polar mapping and currently reading the source code to understand it. But there are some things which I don't quite understand and hope I can get some guidance on. I understand the decoding/decoupling part as it is the same as the one described in the stereo docs: From mapping0.c: /* channel coupling */

Replication (Mac OS X)
Hello, I am taking a stab at setting up dovecot replication between two OS X Mavericks servers. (The dovecot version in Mavericks is 2.2.5.) The first question I have is in regards to userdb. The user accounts are Open Directory based. The output of: doveadm user ?*' ?yields only: # doveadm user ?*' submit However, specific user accounts can be looked up explicitly, ie: # doveadm
