R-2.12.0 hangs while installing some packages on FreeBSD
I am working with R-2.12.0 on FreeBSD 9.0-CURRENT for a while now. I successfully installed more than 300 packages (most as dependencies of others). There are two packages I am not able to install: RGtk2 and rggobi. For example rggobi builds fine and after that it wants to load: ------------------------------------------------------ # R CMD INSTALL rggobi_2.1.16.tar.gz [..SNIP..] gcc

anyone has C++ STL classes stability issue if used with R
Hello, is there any one who uses C++ STL classes when programming shared libs for R and has had any problems with STL? In the very simple example below I am constantly getting segfaults when trying to populate the queue. The segfault occurs at what looks like a random index in the loop when pushing another element to the queue. Reproduced on 4 machines. Object x is an Image as in EBImage,

Compiling thunderbird
I'm following this thread here http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=23749&forum=38 to build an rpm for thunderbird 3.1.6/3.1.7 from source. While it works well on i386, compilation fails for x86_64. Any advice how to fix the spec file? ... rm -f libthebes.so c++ -fno-rtti -fno-exceptions -Wall -Wpointer-arith -Woverloaded-virtual -Wsynth

find_pid broken in mongrel_cluster 1.0.4
The find_pid method no longer returns a nil by default which causes some breakage in cases where the pid can''t be found since the local variable ''pid'' becomes the entire output of the ''ps'' command. Can you add this return back in so that it behaves the way it did earlier? thanks, eric

Problem compiling cairo-dock under CentOS 5.2
I am trying to compile cairo-dock from source (failing to find an existing package for CentOS). I believe all dependencies are satisfied, but while doing "make", at some point it says (I can provide the full make output if it's needed): gcc -g -O2 -o cairo-dock -Wl,--export-dynamic cairo_dock-cairo-dock-callbacks.o cairo_dock-cairo-dock.o cairo_dock-cairo-dock-dbus.o

Reliable cluster::restart
I run into a problem every so often while doing a cluster::restart where a child sleeps after receiving the KILL, but does not get restarted. This is caused by mongrel not shutting down until either all the requests have completed or 60 seconds have passed. The problem is that when the subsequent start command is issued it comes before the child has exited, so it never gets restarted. This is

Getting R and x11 to work
I'm using Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 10.2 (SP2) on an HP 2133 (x86) mini-notebook. (There apparently are a LOT of bugs in 10.1!) I downloaded R-base from the openSuse 10.2 repository and was (finally) able to install it (after installing blas and gcc-fortran). I can start an R session and do computations. When I try to do any graphics using x11, I get the message: unable to load shared

compiling latest swfdec in debian unstable
Hi, since a few days all the dependencies for compiling and running swfdec 0.5.90 and newer are met in debian experimental. So after adding the experimental repository in /etc/apt/sources.list and doing apt-get -t experimental install libsoup2.4-dev libglib2.0-dev you can continue to test latest and greatest swfdec. cheers, Riccardo

Compiling problem on Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit
Hello, I''m trying to compile wxruby for Ruby 1.9 on Ubuntu Karmic 64 bit, but I can''t get it to work. I''ve already done this for the 32 bit version (on another machine, of course), so I don''t see where''s the problem with that. I thought, I had all neccessary libraries installed, but maybe you know better... After compiling for a long time, rake fails

Mongrel Cluster: Rolling restart?
Hi all, Forgive me if this has been asked before, but is there a reason mongrel_rails cluster::restart stops all ports and then restarts them again? Wouldn''t it be better to restart each port one-by-one in series so that upstream proxy servers can fail over while the restart is occurring, or am I missing something? Thanks, eden
