Zero-sized Maildir files and index corruption on over-quota
We are using Postfix as an MTA delivering via Dovecot's LDA (with sieve). We also use Dovecot as a POP/IMAP server. Mail storage is Maildir on NFS, indexes are stored locally. Quotas are FS quotas enforced by the NFS server. The Dovecot version is 1.2.11. Recently, for one user being over quota, some attempts to deliver mail bounced as expected while some others resulted in zero-sized Maildir

Mixing mbox and maildir
Hi there. I understood that in Dovecot 1.0 it should be possible to mix the usage of mbox and maildir mailboxes. I just downloaded, built, and am testing dovecot-stable-20050304. I'm a bit confused as to the terms of namespaces (haven't read that part of the RFC yet), but this does not seem related. Anyway, when I try specifying: default_mail_env = ~/mail/:INBOX=/var/mail/%u On

First of all i would like to thanks Timo for the excellent job done in dovecot. We are using it in you prodution server with about 5 millions of emails and it is pretty good, only a performance problens but i guess it is realated to ocfs2 that we are using. Permissions problem with mdbox maildir
Hi! Apologies if this has come up before, or if this is a duplicate posting (I tried posting before but I think it got lost). Anyways, I'm trying to set up an IMAP server with dovecot, and everything seems to be more or less working except that I periodically see error messages like this in my logs: Feb 18 01:01:15 stark dovecot: lmtp(31956, root at aleme.nu): Error:

dsync is seriously broken when syncing maildir and mdbox
Hello, I thought mdbox was production ready, but it seems to me that (in 2.0.4) it's quite broken. 1) The documentation only running this to convert from maildir to mdbox: *dsync mirror maildir:~/Maildir* but based on my experience and on posts on the mailing list, it's not enough. A namespace has to be defined and it's not clear whether / or . should be used as a separator. I

Maildir hierarchy sep bug ?
Hello Timo, I'm experiencing the following different behaviors with dovecot-1.1.8/Maildir. My Maildir hierarchy separator is the "." (dot) character. My namespaces, when I use them, separator is "/". When I run the server without any namespaces, I can create mailboxes named something like first.name which, of course, are shown to the client as first/ (non

Dovecot NFS Indexes and IMAP Migration
Hi there, After being extremely impressed from implementing it in some customer installations, I've decided to migrate our mail infrastructure to dovecot. Being able to have /bin/checkpassword support across the board for pop, imap, and smtp authentication, as well as being able to ditch stunnel for the SSL layer...where were you in 2001?!? :) I have two concerns, the first is about the

Missing mailboxes after migration from Maildir -> mdbox
I migrated from existing dovecot Maildir to dbox. After adding separator to the namespace it migrated all Inbox mails, but the other mailboxes like user-created ones and "Junk", "Sent" and so on has not been migrated. Any advice would be helpful, here is my dovconf: https://pastebin.com/rDSeBcLe My migration I made using: 1. Edit dovecot.conf with new mdbox and adding

dovecot-shared tries to fchown index+control files but fails

Issue with mailbox conversion using dsync in v2.2.32 (maildir <-> mdbox)
Hi all, I've run into an issue with in-place mailbox format conversions between mdbox and maildir and wondered if someone could assist. When using dsync to convert a mailbox, the conversion loses a mailbox GUID and produces a warning. This behavior seems to have been introduced between version 2.2.31 and 2.2.32. See below for the full debug output from both versions followed by the dovecot
