Multiple Dovecot instances over single mail store
Hi,
I need to run two Dovecot instances with totally different
authentication configs: first - passwordless, based on client SSL
certificate; and second - regular password based (LDAP, passwd etc.).
(As far as I know this cannot be achieved with single Dovecot instance;
if I'm mistaken, please correct me). My intention is to give clients
dual access to their mailboxes: some do own a SSL cert,

Multiple authentication instances (GSSAPI _or_ Client Certificate)
Hi there,
I am trying to make a paranoid IMAPS/Submission server. I'm running
Ubuntu 20.04 with Dovecot 2.3.7.2 (3c910f64b).
I mostly use my mail-server from the LAN/Realm where I have GSSAPI
working well for both IMAPS and Submission and most other services
But... I would like to be able to configure Dovecot to require mobile
("external") devices to authenticate using client

Incompatibility Thunderbirds Auth Mech TLS-Certificate <-> Dovecot
Hello,
it seems there there is an issue regarding "TLS-Certtificate"
authentication in Thunderbird and Dovecot. Obviously client certificate
is recognized by Dovecot:

/emailAddress=christian.felsing at example.net/CN=Christian Felsing
(Test)/OU=CF Certificates/O=example.net/C=DE
AFAIK Dovecot always requires IMAP login,

Multiple instances and/or separate certificates per email address
Hi,
We have a mail server with multiple instances of Postfix each listening
on a different IP address to create a set of virtual mail servers. There
are various reasons why separate instances of Postfix seems to work best
to achieve this goal, but I wont divert into that discussion here.
I would like so match this with Dovecot. The listening side isn't a
problem as Dovecot can listen on

multiple instances of dovecot on one machine
I was trying to run two instances of dovecot on the same machine, each
listening on a single IP. The problem I ran into was that each time
one was started or restarted, the other stopped responding. I saw the
following in the logs:
Mar 23 00:02:27 sentinel dovecot: Dovecot v1.0.rc27 starting up
Mar 23 00:02:27 sentinel dovecot: Socket already
exists: /var/run/dovecot/dict-server

multiple instances of WEBrick against one rails directory?
All,
I''ve had WEBrick running with SSL on the QA instance of my rails app
for a couple weeks.
I''m ready to move it to the production instance but I''m wondering if I
should have 2 production instances of WEBrick running.
One unencrypted for internal LAN traffic (10.0.0.x only).
One SSL encrypted for internect connectivity.
Will this work or will the 2 instances step

Multiple instances on one machine need to join a domain
Hello all,
I'm running smb 2.2.12 on Red Hat AS 2.1. I have multiple smb instances
running on this machine all bound to their own network interface. My
question is how do I join each one individually to the same domain. Is there
an option in the config file to point to the MACHINE.SID file?
Thanks in advance,
- Chris

I'm trying to run several instances of dovecot, with a different config

I try the command

Multiple Samba Instances on a Single Distribution.
Hello, I am wondering if anyone else has thought that it might be good
to be able to run multiple instances of samba on a single machine ?
I currently accomplish this task with VMware and multiple vm's.
But it seems to me that it may be simpler if samba were able to
run multiple instenses, with unique configs and smbpasswds,
binding to unique aliased ethernet devices!

multiple instances?
Hello, unosonic,
Okay, we'll do it this way as it appears to be the only sane way...
THIS is the xml config file that I've been using for ONE STREAM ONLY.
No more than one stream nor any other port on that single stream, for that matter, has ever worked to date.
There also seems to be alot of clutter but as I've NEVER had to use these oddball format files before (in any of my 30

multiple instances of dovecot ?
Hello,
I got a dovecot server running on a Debian Linux machine. I'd
like to run another instance of it. I start it with another
config file with debug output on stderr. The auth parameters are
different :
dovecot1: Imapd only, listens on 143, auth=/etc/passwd
dovecot2: Imapd only, listens on 144, auth=mysql
It kinda works... But...
How does one instance of it recognizes the

Can one invoke multiple INSTANCEs of Firefox on CentOS
I am doing some testing with XForms and I really need a separate instance
of Firefox, one that shares nothing with my primary instance that has
various reference works and web sites open, to test forms. Is this even
possible? I have a sense from the small bit of testing that I have done
that even with separate profiles and invoking the firefox process manually
from different terminal windows

One set of source code with multiple instances
Hi there, we made a PHP and Impakt2 based web content management system
for schools with specific features that work really well for schools.
The way I designed it was so there was one central set of source code
and an empty (in terms of rows in tables) database structure. To set up
a new school i had a script that basically created a new directory in
/var/www and then within that, symlinked
