Evolution and MIME digests
Is there anyone here using evolution with MIME digests successfully?
MIME digests don't work OK with thunderbird so far.

CentOS 5.1 x86 medium installation problems
Hi, I had downloaded CentOS 5.1 x86 DVD image, and although it passed
sha1sum or md5sum test and I burned it verifying it, installation failed.
Also if I recall correctly, when I tested the medium during install, it
failed although as I said the media was verified.

DVD, so perhaps it is a Red Hat EL 5.1 x86 DVD issue?

OT: Migration from Evolution to Thunderbird (Thunderbird mbox files)
Background is that I have been using Evolution for my MUA for a number
of years. Migrated to Evolution from Mozilla Mail. I only use Evolution
for email and contacts. Getting bored with the issues (frequently not
being able to exit and needing to kill it; Bug Buddy popping up in
GNOME, etc) that Mark (MHR) and I and I'm sure others have experienced.

Cross-platform GUI libraries with drag 'n drop IDEs
OS: CentOS 5.0 x86.
I am a programmer, relatively new to GNU/Linux and am looking for cross
platform GUI development, mainly for EL5 and Windows. I have found
wxWidgets so far. I prefer drag 'n drop programming IDEs, QT seems to
provide this for GNU/Linux, but it isn't free for Windows.
Does anyone know of any decent GUI cross-platform library for EL5 and
Windows with a drag 'n

Coping music from tapes
OS: CentOS 5.0 x86.
Hi, I have some old music tapes and a walkman, and want to move the
music to mp3 format. So far I am thinking to use Audacity to record the
music to wavs, and then do not know, somehow I will compress the wavs to
mp3s as vbr 192 Kbps with something.
Has anyone done this? What app did you use for recording the music from
the tapes and what app did you use to make it mp3?

CentOS 5 x86: Missing features
Hi, I am surprised how some features are missing from CentOS 5. So far,
I found missing:
1) GNOME Session does not prompt for saving on log out.
2) There isn't a "Run" option in the GNOME menus for running programs.

Desktop: Evolution & Bug Buddy issues (GNOME)
Is this issue in the CentOS Bugzilla or Upstream Bugzilla? I use a fully
updated CentOS 5.2 box. Frequently, when I close Evolution, I get a message
from Bug Buddy, the Bug Reporting Tool, that Calendar has crashed. I do not
use the Calendar Application. I use Evolution for email and contacts. Then,
when I try to send the information, I get an error message:

how to best import Evolution/Thunderbird mail into dovecot?
Hi.
I'm migrating all my mail archive (some 60 GB) from Evolution (which is
really a broken piece of software) into dovecot.
Now I face the problem how to do this best...
Evolution (which is still a old 2.32.x version) itself uses mbox files,
in a special hierarchical structure to allow subfolders and that like.
It also stores it's own status info in X-Evolution and

dovecot and evolution
I am using dovecot 0.99.13 and Evolution 2.0.2 on Fedora Core 3.
Recently, Ximian stopped being able to access my local INBOX via IMAP,
failing with the following error:
Error while Opening folder imap://malsyned at localhost/INBOX.
Incomplete server response: no information provided for message 1.
I got a transcript of the conversation between Evolution and dovecot.

Evolution Filters
Hi,
I have just switched from using Thunderbird to Evolution on Centos 4.2
for my IMAP email and seem to be having problems with the filters. The
filters I have created a really simple, such as checking for the

The filters don't however get applied automatically, I have to select

Using Xen under CentOS 5.0
OS: CentOS 5.0 x86.
I have an internal modem with a driver that works with CentOS 4.x but
not with 5.0. So I am thinking of using Xen in conjunction to SL 4.x.
My question is, does this require separate physical partitions for SL
4.x, or will these be part of a VM file or something with CentOS 5.0 as
a host?

Evolution: DATA command failed: Requested mail action aborted: exceeded storage allocation.
Hi Everyone,
I have been recently getting these errors in Evolution 2.6.1. I think
it is a client issue, as I don't see them using Thunderbird on the same
machine (though I get a lot of "disconnected from servers" from
Thunderbird. On Evolution 2.8.1 on another machine I haven't noticed
these issues.

Dovecot IMAPS : Thunderbird SSL cert issue / Evolution OK
Evolution prompted to accept the cert; which I did.
Thunderbird used to prompt and allow acceptance; it no longer does...
well sorta does. See my other posting for a screenshot where it shows
"add server location https:// ...." HTTPS . no way to add from SMTP.
Have also tried typing smtp://host:25 and https://host:25

Thunderbird vs. Evolution vs. OwnCloud
Hi,
I'm currently using Thunderbird synced to OwnCloud on my main
workstation running Slackware64 14.1. I just installed CentOS 7 on my
Asus S300 laptop. It's running nicely, and I'm spending some time
getting acquainted with it.
I wonder if I should stick with Thunderbird or go with the default
Evolution application, since this seems to be better integrated into the
desktop, namely

Import from Evolution
I need to import the mail database generated by the evolution mail
reader into dovecot. Evolution stores its mail in maildir format (fully
standards compatible, I think); I would be using the maildir format in
dovecot. Is there anything in the wiki, etc. explaining exactly how to
do this?
Why do this? Evolution is hopelessly broken, and is not likely to be
fixed in the forseeable future, and
