"Temporary authentication failure" ? Cant connect with ldap user
Is there a good, foolproof dovecot-openldap tutorial that walks you through the steps and works with the newest version of both softwares? I'm giving up and starting anew. 2015-02-24 11:33 GMT+01:00 Mihai Badici <mihai at badici.ro>: > On Tuesday 24 February 2015 10:51:44 David Scheele wrote: > > Hmm... > > > > *ldapsearch -x cn=admin* gives me: > > | # A

tests with metadata module
--Repost after subscription as list member --- I made some tests with metadata support in dovecot 2.2.10. Previously I had dovecot 2.2.4 with external metadata plugin who work well. I use dovecot with roundcube and roundcube plugins from kolab project . First, the feature activation was tricky and rather undocumented. I spent about half hour googling, after that I set: imap_metadata = yes and

dovecot shared folder
I try to create a shared directory in dovecot. When accessing ( from roundcube) i can't subscribe or list the namespace. It looks like I don't have rights. This is an extract from debug log: When I try to create a new folder in "Public" (i don't have rights, but i can try) loooks like the process crash: May 12 23:10:07 imap: Debug: Module loaded:

managesieve - point me in the right direction?
Hi, I am using Dovecot 2.1.16. I'm trying to get Roundcube to talk to the managesieve plugin. Postfix/Dovecot/Roundcube all exist on the same server. I'd like to get managesieve working. I've gone through a few guides, such as: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/dovecot#Sieve But so far roundcube won't connect to the managesieve plugin. ("Cant reach server").

Any client out there taking advantage of Dovecot's virtual mailboxes?
I wish to know if someone knows an IMAP client (desktop or webmail) using Dovecot's virtual mailboxes as server-side search folders. Thanks.

Special-Use Mailboxes ?
Lots of people must have had this issue before me - users using different devices&software (pc, smartphone, tablet, thunderbird, outlook, webmail) and languages (e.g. English on the PC, German on the iPhone), some folders end of with different names - e.g. "Sent" and "Gesendete Elemente" - meaning the same thing, namely "sent mails". How do you map these to just

"Temporary authentication failure" ? Cant connect with ldap user
Hello there, first time writing. I'm relatively new to linux and have been tasked with setting up the following configuration: Debian Wheezy Server Postfix Dovecot OpenLDAP So, I set up the Server, installed and configured postfix, ldap and dovecot (in that order) and now simply try to log into the mail account with a used from the LDAP over telnet. The test looks like this: *|> telnet

Different realm for different listeners?
I see this has been asked a few times over the years (but not in several years), and the response was along the lines of "maybe someday", so I figured I'd see if someday was here yet... I have a need to have a different default realm for different listeners. Basically, I've a bunch of different domains, and a few of them insist their users not be required to authenticate with

Gmail like virtual mailboxes
I'm new to this list so let me introduce myself: I'm a computer literate user (I've done some C programming long ago and can run a Linux system and do some light admin), I've never installed a mail server before and I'm in the process of migrating my family and my small business from Gmail (Google Apps) to a virtual server mainly for privacy reasons. I'm in love with

how to separate virtual delivery and authentication?
I have a "pure ldap" setting with postfix and dovecot. When using dovecot delivery, the recipient is checked via ldap. The same ldap query is used when authenticate. So, if I want to authenticate with the uid , I can't use a filter like uid=%u because the delivery will fail. I don't want to use %nor something else because I could use multiple e-mail addresses on a single

This is the user DN: > cn=Klara Fall,ou=People,dc=[domainname],dc=de According to your Dovecot configuration > auth_bind_userdn = cn=%u,ou=People,dc=**[domainname]**,dc=de if you login with "klarafall" it will be expanded into cn=klarafall,ou=People,dc=[domainname],dc=de which is not the correct DN for Mrs Klara. So if you login with "Klara Fall" it should work,

Ms Exchange vs dovecot
First of all, Exchange is a complete solution. Dovecot is a imap/pop3 server ( a good one, sure... ) So replacing exchange means to find an integrated solution. about the questions: public folder was removed in exchange. IMHO they made the right choice :) There is a different thing, need different tools and different client app. You can create shared mailboxes ( i think it's a little

Aw: Dovecot - Postfix Calender Synchronisation
I still find impediments to the adoption of any of those "solutions". Too many software dependencies, like PHP, DB, python, and a virtual machine. --- There are two portable file formats for calendar and contacts that work across applications and systems, but no server that can use them, and use them safely.
