Dovecot 2.0 zlib and dbox
Hello,
As per wiki instructions, I tried to enable zlib compression of mails by
adding/modifying the following snippets of configuration:
plugin {
zlib_save_level = 6
zlib_save = gz
}
and
protocol imap {
mail_plugins = fts fts_squat autocreate zlib imap_zlib
imap_id_log = *
}
I am using dbox format and delivering the mails via dovecot deliver,
however mails don't seem

Rebuilding message guid in sdbox
Hello,
I am running dovecot 2.2.12
Current mail storage is sdbox and I am trying to compress all emails,
which works fine, except for a few old mailboxes.
If I run the following dsync command
"dsync -u flea -o "mail_plugins=zlib" mirror maildir:~/ndbox"
It fails with:
dsync(flea): Error: Exporting mailbox INBOX failed: Backend doesn't
support GUIDs, sync with header

dsync convert dovecot 2.0 beta4
Hello,
I am trying to convert a dbox mailbox in maildir format
I changed the config to maildir instead of dbox and I am issuing this
/opt/dovecot/bin/dsync -u r convert dbox:/home/r/dbox
But I get many errors like those below and no mail is stored in the maildir.
dsync(r): Error: Corrupted mailbox log at offset 18446743970630342680:

Mail replication
Hello,
I am running an asynchronously replicated mail setup. 2 servers are each
running an smtp server which uses dovecot as the LDA.
I am using unison to replicate mail files between servers.
Before, I was using Maildir format and after reading so much good papers
about the very good performance of dbox format, I decided to switch to dbox.
However, I now have a very annoying problem, as mails

zlib_save per namespace/mailbox?
Hi,
the zlib_save question reminds me of a wish:
I think it's not possible to set zlib_save parameter per namespace (or even
mailbox). Per namespace would be something for the wish list to get rid of
the cron job method to compress archival mailboxes.
And maybe an option to add a "Z" flag to compressed maildir message files
as recommended in the wiki regarding compress crob job.

Using attachment_dir with plugin zlib corrupt mails
Hello:
I have found the same problem reported above by Patrick Cernko affecting our system and corrupting our messages. Even worse, Outlook 2016 will no synchronize and the clients cannot see any message, even if there is only one corrupted mail per mailbox.
I cannot figure out a feasible workaround for our system, and I can see that in new version 2.38 the bug is not fixed.

Corrupted index cache file - migration with zlib
Hi
I'm migrating some mailboxes from an old dovecot system where mailboxes are
stored maildir uncompressed. I enabled zlib on the new system and migrated
an account:
doveadm -o mail_fsync=never backup -R -u tonyg imapc:
when the account connects to the new system after a while i'm seeing the
following error and the mailbox is no longer functioning:

dsync backup; compressed to uncompressed
I need to backup some of the mailboxes on our system. We are currently using mdbox with zlib compression plugin.
The backups need to be maildir without compression. How can I accomplish this using dsync?
The following just causes each msg file in maildir to be compressed as well.
dsync -f -u user1 backup maildir:/var/tmp/user1
While this just causes the dsync to fail while spewing a bunch of

MDBOX DSYNC error: Broken physical size in mailbox
Hi All,
I currently have a small Dovecot server (Server A) and I've installed a
second dovecot mailbox server (server B) and am trying to sync mailboxes
from Server A to Server B.
Both servers sit behind two dovecot directors on separate hosts and have
identical config files (doveconf -n output below). Mailboxes on Server A
are on an NFS mount.
Server A has been working fine with no

dsync deleting too many emails (sdbox)
I'm using dsync to synchronize emails on a laptop where wifi connectivity
sometimes fails in the middle of a sync. I have a shell script that runs
dsync, and here is one line of it including the output of dsync:
+ dsync -f -m realmail mirror /home/paulproteus/projects/ssh-attach/run ssh rose.makesad.us dsync

Questions about dbox (sdbox?), mdbox
Hello,
So ive spent the last 45 minutes or so searching the list for dbox
stuff, but Im not seeing anything real definitive.
My question is basically whether the dbox format is ready for
production environment, is sdbox or mdbox more stable/ready than the
other or does it matter? What are people's experience/review with
running this format (and if you reply can you tell me which one

dsync multiserver
Hello,
Maybe I am missing something obvious here (I would hope so), but is
there any way to use dovecot deliver to spawn dsync to replicate
changes. And dovecot to trigger dsync to sync mailboxes when a change
has been done.
Thanks

Changing the name of a compressed file
Thanks for that Aki.
Follow-up question. I tried to initiate compression by adding
mail_plugins = $mail_plugins zlib
plugin {
zlib_save_level = 6
zlib_save = xz
}
to dovecot.conf. I restarted dovecot and sent one message to the server, and one message from the server. Neither was compressed. I changed the save type to
zlib_save = bz2
and repeated. This time the message
