squid HA failover?
I'm running a pair of squids as an internal cache for some intermediate
data used by a web server farm and currently doing failover by going
through an F5 bigip. However, I'd like to avoid the bigip and use
heartbeat since there are only two machines. I don't need to sync any
content since it is a fast-changing cache and either machine can handle
everything. Is it possible to

ssh key with redundant targets?
Is there a way to tell ssh that it is OK that the target of a command
may be one of several machines, not necessarily the one it stuck in
~/.ssh/known_hosts last time around? This might be due to DNS
round-robin or an HA failover. Setting StrictHostKeyChecking to no in
/etc/ssh/ssh_config allows commands to complete but it still prints the
warning which confuses people.

T1 multiplexer (or ?) for failover in large installation
Hi,
Please forgive my terminology, still a bit new to T1s and such.
I'm looking for a way to have 5 T1s from a carrier terminate into some type
of box (multiplexer?), then be able to plug 7 asterisk servers into that box
(each with single port T1 card) and be able to have 2 * servers go down at
any given time and not actually have the carrier see that anything has happened.
Obviously if a *

Centos 7 lockup
A machine I set up to run OpenNMS stopped working last night - no
hardware alarm lights, but keyboard/monitor/network unresponsive.
After a reboot I see a large stack of messages like this in

upgrade dhcpd failover set from centos 5.x ->7.x
Is there a less drastic way to upgrade a pair of dhcpd servers on
Centos 5.x than forklifting the old boxes out and hoping the
replacements work?. The failover protocol seems to be incompatible
so I just upgrade one at a time.... Has anyone been through this with
a clever solution - like compiling a new dhcpd on the old boxes for an
easy rollback?

Samba - faster failover to other AD servers?
We just had an interesting experience here. One of our AD servers was down for 90 minutes due to the server being physically moved to another location. This shouldn?t be a problem since there are 5 other AD servers in that ?group? that can take over the load. However it seems Samba (when used as a fileserver) for some reason is taking quite a long time to ?give up? on the first one and switch to

Cloud on CentOS Server
I'm looking into adding a cloud to one of my servers.
Criteria:
security
accessible via Windoze, Android Mobile Devices, iPhones, iPads, Macs
Preferably something living under one of the better repos, such as epel
An active project doing updates and adding features.
I don't suppose any of you have ideas for this? ;)

ssh -Y X-forwarding?
On rare occasions I want to run a remote X command (like 'meld' to
interactively merge changes in files) and normally 'ssh -Y
remote_host' from a terminal in an NX/freenx window that is acting as
my desktop to start and any X program subsequently started would open
in a new window via X-forwarding - at least when the target is a 5.x
host. I don't do it often enough to remember

PRI Alarms, Comes Back, But Asterisk Won't Touch It!
Here is the scenario: Asterisk 1.14.13; zaptel 1.4.6; Digium TE120P
(same problem with various previous versions; same problem with
different TE120P cards).
The customer has a partial (10 B-Channel) PRI that when it is busy
(eight or more B channels in use), tends to fail as shown below...

Collecting _all_ ssh keys
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA512
Hello,
I read and find a way (well, there seems to be several equal
implementations) to collect the ssh keys of machines. However they all
give only the choice to choose between the key formats.
But is there a way to collect both keys of a machine, the rsa _and_ the
dss key (and maybe the rsa1 too)? I didn''t find a way to solve this as

[HW] Do the HDD cages in rack mount chassis indicate visual/audio HDD failure?
I have no personal experience with rack mount chassis.
>From the past postings, I reckon there are members, in this list, who
have experience in rack mount setups and would like get their advice.
To reduce the H/W cost, I am considering Linux mdadm RAID10 on a 2U chassis.
I would appreciate clarification on the following:
In rack mount chassis, do the cages that house the
hard disks have

ssh after failing fsck?
Is there any way to configure things so sshd starts even if a filesystem
mentioned in fstab has errors that fail the automatic fsck at boot? Due
to some power issues I'm sitting at work for a long fsck to complete -
or more likely fail, so I can run it manually like it will tell me on
the console. I'd much rather ssh in from home and do that later...

FW: re: Asterisk Outbound with Failover, alarm notification, dial status and hangupcause capturing to CDR from Dialplan
Managed to implement this on asterisk v1.4.24.1,
Also, Hangupcause updating to user field.
However, this only works on the edge of my voice network (demarcation
point)
It does not work on my internal routing boxes as I use IAX to route
between remote sites.
I was thinking of using some sort of SIP variables to transport these
results over the IAX trunk..
Any bright ideas folks???

IP aliases for services (including dhcpd)?
I'd like to consolidate the services from several old servers onto 2
CentOS7 VMs that are currently running dhcpd in a balanced/failover
configuration. It will simplify things to add the IPs from the old
servers as aliases, at least temporarily so everything will continue
to connect without changes.
However, after adding the first one, I see in the logs that DHCPD is
sending its DHCPACKs

[CFT] multi server failover setup
I''ve been meaning to test this setup somewhere for a while, but never
got the right app/(real) traffic/hardware to do it with. So maybe
somebody can try it out and let us know if this works...
It''s for applications running the same code/data on a cluster of
machines, so this doesn''t apply to the majority of low-traffic sites
out there.
The goal is to avoid having to

clustering vs. xen
How does clustering relate to virtual hosts under xen? Can you make a 2
host failover cluster as the xen dom0 and have it take care of the
guests or would you build 2 independent xen hosts and configure guests
as failover clusters? Or is there some other approach?

Tester wanted for multipath failover iSCSI target software
Hello,
I'm looking for test users for new iSCSI target software designed
for multipath failover cluster nodes.
I'm very interested in the virtual machine such as Hyper-V.
So I'm also tuning the target for using VMs.
I need an environmental report in particular other than FreeBSD 7.1
RELEASE p3 i386/PAE kernel w/ZFS.
I welcome the report with other initiators below.

VLAN tagging problems
We are using Centos behind an F5 Bigip load balancer.
The linux box is using bonding and tagged VLAN's
Everything works fine except that when traffic is forwarded from the BigIP
to the linux box on the VLAN where the web server is running the linux box
returns the traffic on the wrong VLAN, It returns traffic on the lowest
ordered VLAN.
ie. here is a tcpdump on my load balancer showing
