Replication and public namespaces
Hi,
i have the same problem with the current dovecot version 2.2.22.
I wonder that nobody else seems to have run into this, since this thread
is quite old.
Did i miss something and does one need a special configuration for
syncing public namespaces?
Markus, do you still use your patch or did you encounter some problems
with it?
I just tested it and it still seems to work: the logs have many

syncing imap servers with imapsync
hello list,
I am attempting to sync two imap servers using the imapsync perl script. It seems handy and easy.
Here's what happens when I try to do this:
#
# Postfix master process configuration file. For details on the format
# of the file, see the master(5) manual page (command: "man 5 master").
# -o smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=yes

imapsync, namespaces and Dovecot 2.x
Hi people,
I recently tried to migrate from Exchange using imapsync. It didn't work because it complained that dovecot had no namespace capablity. After looking through Dovecot's config files I found that namespaces could be defined, but if you did not a 'private' default one was created.
In the 2.x wiki documentation (http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Migration) it says nothing about

OT - How to simulate public IPs for lab testing
Hello,
Many times, I need to test in a lab Asterisk servers before sending them to
customer locations.
I'm currently having trouble to test SIP trunks without touching SIP
configuration.
So, how should I change my testing lab so that I could now test SIP trunks
without modifying Asterisk server under test ?
A typical set up is:
Asterisk server1 under test <---SIP----> Router

Replication protocol design
I'll probably be implementing multi-master replication this summer. My
previous thoughts about it are here:
http://dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2007-December/027284.html
Below is a description of how the replication protocol will probably
work. It should work just as well for master-slave and multi-master
setups. Comments welcome. I'll write later a separate mail about how
it'll be

Sieve-scripts won't replicate
Hi,
I am trying to use dovecot replication for a two-way sync. And whatever
I do, sieve-scripts won?t replicate. Mails replicate near
instantaneous. When I disable the sieve-script in roundcube, the other
server will create in the home of the user on the other side a folder
sieve/tmp but enabling won?t create the roundcube.sieve and the
symlink .dovecot.sieve -> sieve/roundcube.sieve

namespace problem / 1.1beta11
Hi all,
actually I got a problem with the namespaces in dovecot 1.1 beta11. It occured after purging index files and resynch via imapsync. Dovecot complains about "Unknown namespace", though it worked with versions before. I cannot comfirm for 1.1beta10, but I surely know 1.1beta9 worked with these settings.
Example:
From Folder [INBOX/Trash]
To Folder [___________]

[2.3.8] possible replication issue
Hi,
some of our customers have discovered a replication issue after
upgraded from 2.3.7.2 to 2.3.8.
Running 2.3.8 several replication connections are hanging until defined
timeout. So after some seconds there are $replication_max_conns hanging
connections.
Other replications are running fast and successful.
Also running a doveadm sync tcp:... is working fine for all users.
I can't see

Hierarchy separator recommendation?
Dear dovecot list,
I'm using Maildir as mailbox format.
Is there any recommendation for the namespace hierarchy separator?
Currently I didn't set any. So it is the default of dot '.'
I'm switiching from a rather unknown IMAP Server called DBMail
(http://www.dbmail.org/)
Planning to synchronize the mailboxes via imapsync

Dovecot copy with imapsync
Hi List,
I am trying to migrate my dovecot 0.9 (mbox-Storage) to 1.0rc2 with
maildir-storage using imapsync.
I cannot manage to copy the emails from one server to the other,
however the dry-run from imapsync works nicely. Is it possible to make
dovecot more verbose to see what is happening (or not happening)?
Thank you very much.
Best

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Thank you for the reply. I did find imapsync whilst perusing Google. I
will give it a shot, it sounds more realistic/reliable. I have a hoard
of emails going back to 1999, so I want as few errors as possible :)

Mail Sync
I am trying to sync my mail on two different servers as testing for
converting our business over to a server using dovecot. I am currently
running dovecot version 2.0.11
While trying to sync the messages using Thunderbird and a program named
imapsync, I run into an error stating that the dovecot server does not know
how to handle messages with the FORWARD flag set.
Is the FORWARD flag

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hello,
Because it did not work ?
In a similar situation, we where forced to use isync/mbsync in imap to
imap mode because dsync did not work.
It was reported here more than a year ago (May 2014).
Time to time, I see the same report from other trying to use dsync to do
a migration to dovecot.
Dsync is a very appealing and elegant solution to this usage, but it
does not always work in real

Sure but imapsync does not preserve message UID's which means that users
end up redownloading all their messages or message/UID mismatches will
happen.

Hi Sami,
Can you expand on this?
I used ImapSync to migrate from Dovecot to Office365 a couple of years
ago, and didn't notice any issues with it at all.
