dsync connection issue
I'm trying to move from my exising server to a new site. In preparation for this I've set up the new server as per the first attachment. I've added additional (temporary) setting to the new site as per these instructions https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Migration/Dsync but when I try to do a backup with the following command from the old to the new site sudo doveadm -D -o

dsync deleting too many emails (sdbox)
I'm using dsync to synchronize emails on a laptop where wifi connectivity sometimes fails in the middle of a sync. I have a shell script that runs dsync, and here is one line of it including the output of dsync: + dsync -f -m realmail mirror /home/paulproteus/projects/ssh-attach/run ssh rose.makesad.us dsync dsync-local(paulproteus): Error: dbox

Converting user mailboxes from maildir to sdbox
Hello, I've got a Postfix/Dovecot server setup. Currently Dovecot is version 2.3.6, and it's using Maildir storage. The mailbox is: mail_home = /home/vmail/mailboxes/%d/%n mail_location = maildir:~/mail:LAYOUT=fs I'm wanting to convert from Maildir to sdbox. I looked at: https://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat I was initially thinking mdbox but that's multiple messages per

maildir to sdbox offline conversion
Hi all. I've just installed dovecot v2.1 in a multihomed, multiinstance setup, It took me two days to convert the old v1.1 configs, now everything works like charm! But. :) I have several maildir mailboxes, I decided to use the sdbox storage type instead. I ran into difficoulties using the dsync util. My virtual users are in an OpenLDAP DB on a differnet machine, and I do not have access

maildir -> sdbox migration command for _all_ accounts, with split maildir/CONTROL/INDEX locations?

Converting from Maildir - sdbox
OK - I thought this was going to be easy. Maybe it is. I'm just not that good at reading directions. Trying to use dsync. Getting this error: Mail locations must use the same virtual mailbox hierarchy separator (specify separator for the default namespace) Currently using maildir. The setup is as follows: mail_uid = mail mail_gid = mail mail_location =

Migrating from Maildir to dbox+SIS... sdbox or mdbox?
Ok... Now that I've got the niggling issues resolved, on to bigger and better things. I want to convert everyone from Maildir to dbox and enable SIS (our users use a lot of large attachments), and after some reading/googling, I think it may be better to use dsync instead of rsync for the actual migration after all since it will do this at the same time as the syncing. If I'm not

Dsync crash (v2.2.10, sdbox+sis → mbox)
Hi, I'm trying to use dsync to convert sdbox + sis mailboxes to mbox (mbox is chosen here to "re-attach" the attachments to their original place) # dsync -Dv -u $LOGIN -o "mail_location=sdbox:/zfspool/clone_srv_mail/$LOGIN" -o "mail_attachment_dir=/zfspool/clone_srv_attachments" backup

A totally different approach (that is imap-server agnostic), providing that you're setting up those new accounts with temporary passwords (which you know), before users change their passwords to their liking: you could also use imapsync ( https://github.com/imapsync/imapsync) . We here use it with a batch file and a text file containing all accounts to do mass-migrations, usually at

Migrated from maildir to sdbox: questions
Hi Ranbir, i think youre just using the wrong quota backend. https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Quota You should switch from "quota = maildir...." to another one, like dict. Converting your Public mailbox you could try this ( no guarantee .. just guessing. make backup ! ): doveadm -o mail_location="maildir:/var/spool/mail/thesandhufamily.ca/public" sync sdbox:/target/folder

Migrated from maildir to sdbox: questions
Hi Everyone, I migrated my maildir mailboxes to sdbox without any show stopping errors, but I did see this during the migration and now I'm also seeing it in the log: Warning: quota: Namespace '' is not Maildir, skipping for Maildir++ quota I'm not quite sure why this is happening. Any ideas? I am using a "public" namespace for several mailboxes to share emails: #

Profiles and samba servers
I seem to have my new server running fine. I do have a problem with my Windows Profiles though. I logged in as a local admin to copy user_oldserver_profile to user_newserver_profile, but I cannot do that since it shows the profiles from the oldserver as unknown. I am only going to copy a few of the admins profiles and the rest I am not worrying about. I see a couple of ways of doing this. I

apache httpd, webdav, ssl - something is wrong, but what?
Hi, happy new year! Today I set up a new web(dav) server for our .ical-System (phpIcalendar) and copied the config and data files from the old server. But somthing is wrong with the configuration and I'm blind to find the error. On the old server, I can still publish my calender from e.g. Apple iCal at the server URL with http http://oldserver.filmakademie.de/DAVdocs On the new server, I

Question about indexes and maildir/sdbox/mdbox
Hello We are now running dovecot 2.0.9 with indexes in a ram disk and maildir storage in a test system. We have the following questions: - If there is a power outage / kernel crash, we will lose the content of ramdisk. We have tested that indexes are regenerated when a user logs in via imap, so e-mail access will be "slower" after a power outage / kernel crash, but
