Linux kernel 3.18.12 and libvirt 1.2.15 for Xen4CentOS in virt6-testing
Thanks to work from Johnny, linux 3.18.12 with all the x4c blktap
goodness have been built and are now in the virt6-testing repo. I've
also uploaded libvirt 1.2.15. As you may have seen earlier today,
virt6-testing also includes an updated 4.4.2 package with the latest
security update (XSA-133).
The kernel has had some basic testing (by myself, Johnny, and another
community member), but

Problems with Intel Ethernet and module e1000e
Hi all,
I'm facing a serious problem with the e100e kernel module for Intel
82574L gigabit nics on Centos 6.
The device eth0 suddenly stops working i.e. no more networking. When I
do ifconfig from console I get
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:xx:xx:xx:xx:EA
inet6 addr: fe80::225:90ff:fe50:8fea/64 Scope:Link

Xen4CentOS: Unnecessary gpxe / ipxe obsoletes
I installed CentOS6 with the xen4centos set of packages; then I tried
to install KVM (for performance comparison), I got the following error
in YUM:
--> Processing Dependency: /usr/share/gpxe/e1000-0x100e.rom for
package: 2:qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.415.el6_5.4.x86_64
Package gpxe-roms-qemu is obsoleted by ipxe-roms-qemu, but obsoleting
package does not provide for requirements

Xen4CentOS python-virtinst version issue, blktap2 problem
Hello,
It seems currently when you "yum update" CentOS 6.6 Xen host you end up getting python-virtinst from c6 base repo:
python-virtinst-0.600.0-24.el6.noarch
and not from Xen4CentOS repo, because the version there is "older": 0.600.0-19.
.. which means the centos/xen-specific patch in python-virtinst is "lost". (default to tap2 instead of tap1, to make blktap2

Intel e1000e driver bug and 82574L controller
One of the more promising solutions I'm looking at for my dual-ethernet
dual-monitor workstation contains an Intel 82574L Ethernet controller. I
found a LOT of postings regarding a bug in the driver for this controller:

kmod-e1000e and Intel Network Card
Hi list
It's my first message here, but I use CentOS from long time ago (sorry my
language, I'm spanish from Colombia)
I have a Intel board with an Integrated Network Card 82578DC. I've
sucessfully installed the driver with the RPM kmod-e1000e; I've found it in
ElRepo.org, and I've installed it via Yum.
After I've installed the package (see this:

OSX Server - Excel files
Hi, I am new to this list, so please excuse any redundancy in my
question.
I have 60 Windows XP users who are tied into three Mac OSX File -
Xserve file servers. There is one big problem - ... we are having
issues with Excel files, that on occasion, are not being recognized,
taking literally minutes to load and other quirky abnormalities. Excel
on the XP desktop machines will refuse to save

moving the Xen4CentOS repo Kernel to 3.10.x
Do we want to move the Xen4CentOS kernel to new LTS 3.10.x from the
current 3.4.x Kernel?
If so, can we start testing the that kernel build?
Is someone from Xen.org working on porting the xen specific patches that
are required in the 3.10.x kernel from the ones we have in the 3.4.x
tree in Xen4CentOS?
The only one I know we need is the blktap module.
I have created a new spec that builds a
