Virt SIG roadmap
As promised, in preparation for next week's SIG meeting, here's a kick-off discussion about the Virtualization SIG roadmap. I'm mainly tossing out ideas here -- see this is an invitation to discussion. Key things I think should be on the roadmap: * Release process - General cadence - Estimate of the next release (if any) * Specification of targets - Right now, mainly xen4centos

Hi Rich I'm running openstack compute node on powerpc ubuntu 13.10 and openstack controller node on ubuntu x86 machine.Initially when I tried booting VM from controller node onto powerpc compute node, the nova-compute service which is responsible for booting VM on compute node was searching for libguestfs-test-tool.After compiling linguesftfs for powerpc, the nova-compute resulted in the

[PATCH] v2v: -o openstack: Check openstack binary exists before running it.
Improves the error message when openstack is not installed: $ virt-v2v -i disk fedora-28.img -o openstack virt-v2v: error: no binary called ‘openstack’ was found on the $PATH. moving the Xen4CentOS repo Kernel to 3.10.x
Do we want to move the Xen4CentOS kernel to new LTS 3.10.x from the current 3.4.x Kernel? If so, can we start testing the that kernel build? Is someone from Xen.org working on porting the xen specific patches that are required in the 3.10.x kernel from the ones we have in the 3.4.x tree in Xen4CentOS? The only one I know we need is the blktap module. I have created a new spec that builds a

OpenStack output workflow
Hi, There has been discussion about the OpenStack output and Richard asked for a public thread on this list, so here it is. For v2v from VMware to RHV, there is a Python script that does some extra steps to create the virtual machine after the disks have been converted. We want to have the same behavior for OpenStack, i.e. have virt-v2v create the instance once the volumes have been created.

[LXC][Openstack] Clarifications needed on usage of libvirt-lxc for openstack
Hi everyone, I've some doubts regarding the usage/working of libvirt-lxc with openstack. I'm doing a project titled "Low density virtualization for Storage cloud" 1. Can i use libvirt for lxc with Openstack swift alone (excluding nova, glance and keystone)? If no what other openstack components should i use for virtualization? (Is it necessary to install openstack nova to do

[PATCH] v2v: -o openstack: Option to add --insecure flag to openstack command.
If ‘virt-v2v -oo insecure’ is used then ‘openstack --insecure’ flag is added whenever we invoke the openstack command. How can I rebase network disk?
Hi. I am using openstack, ceph and libvirt now. The live volume migration will call the libvirt rebase function in openstack nova project. https://github.com/openstack/nova/blob/stable/rocky/nova/virt/libvirt/driver.py#L1497 https://github.com/openstack/nova/blob/stable/rocky/nova/virt/libvirt/guest.py#L802 But I use the ceph as the openstack block backend. Name resolution not working inside virt-customize
Hi! I am trying to use virt-customize to add packages to an image. However it seems that there is a problem where a resolv.conf is not being installed and thus package installation fails. The command is: virt-customize -v -x -a trusty-server-cloudimg-amd64-disk1.img --run-command "host openstack.org" I am having a hard time gathering complete output as the command seems to

latest documentation of OpenStack for CentOS7
Dear Gianluca, Thanks for sharing this information it will take my whole week again to read the architecture and to understand it. By the way is it recommended to run the OpenStack on top of ESXi6 for testing purpose? When I provision the CentOS VMs for this test I append this line 'vhv.enable=true' inside the .vmx file to support Nested-Environment inside my ESXi6 Its my first time to
