Loss of DHCP destroys bridge
I am having trouble with recovery. Today due to electrical work I powered down my networks Router / DHCP server. My Centos 7 host machines lost their DHCP lease (they are actually static leases). Once I power my Router / DHCP server back up none of my virtual machine were accessible. It appears that when the DHCP lease was lost on the virt server the bridge of the KVM guest were all losts. A

Bug#571634: bridge loosing connection
Hi, I'm not sure but I think I suffer under the same problem with a bit different setup with squeeze testing and xen 4.0rc5. In fact I'm using bridges in the dom0 and the connections to the domU get lost sporadically. In don't see where's a solution to the problem... Is it now a bug? When it's an iptables bug, where's the corresponding bug in the iptables bugtracker

CentOS-6.7, kvm bridges, virtual interfaces, and routes
I have been looking at this problem on and off for a considerable period. Given my lack of knowledge I have been unable to resolve this quickly and in consequence it has been constantly shoved to the background as other issues arise. Here is the situation: I have two dual-homed kvm hosts both running CentOS-6.7 and identically configured. These are connected to the same LAN segment via

Bridged nodes sharing local IP to be used as gateway for LXC
Hello everyone, I am running multiple nodes each having multiple LXC containers. On those nodes I am using Tinc to share the subnet 10.20.0.0. The LXC containers may migrate between nodes and should keep the same configuration. On all nodes traffic from the external interfaces (connected to the internet) is forwarded to the bridge interfaces and masqueraded. The LXC containers are using 10.20.0.1

[Bridge] Option to forward *unconditionally* on a bridge?
TL;DR: Is there a way to force a bridge to forward anything and everything on all ports (except the ingress port) *regardles* of any permanent FDB entries (such as the MAC addresses of interfaces acting as bridge ports)? For context, I'm using a network-namespace (container) based simulator (think GNS3 or CORE), which allow me to run multiple FRR instances in their own dedicated netns,

[Bridge] Bridging vlans...
<I apologize if this arrives twice... I sent it first from an non-subscribed address, don't know if that'll get to the list or not --JJ> Hi folks, I have an implementation question regarding bridging on a linux box between a catalyst trunk port and a cisco 26something w/802.1q subinterfaces. So right now, there's no vlan trunking going on on the link my bridging firewall sits

Setup multiple bridges for use with KVM
Running CentOS 5.4 x64. Have successfully bridged eth2 with br2 by following the instructions here: http://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Networking (under the RHEL section) Have been running several KVM VMs successfully via this bridge. I am now trying to bridge additional interfaces by using the same routine. Each bridge is named to correspond with the ethX device its bridged with. Example of

Bridge setup
I followed the bridged information in the documentation but I don''t seem to be getting any traffic across the bridge. Below are the relevant configuration files. I have tried many things already to no avail. I am running on a debian sarge/sid system with shorewall 2.0.13. The "external" network is on eth0 and the internal network is connected to eth1. The bridge and physdev

[Bridge] Is bridgeing possible with kernel 2.6.10
Hi I didn't get bridgeing to work with Linux kernel 2.6.10 (coldfire 5485) yet. When i try to configure bridgeing with "brctl", everything seems to be ok, but i if i try to ping through my bridge, i see ARP-Request arriving on the other side, but the ARP-Responses do not go back through the bridge. Now i could read in

[Bridge] Problem with bond interface in bridge
Hi @all, I have a strange problem. Here is the setup: I have a bridging linux box with 3 NICs (Intel e1000). 1 NIC (eth0) connected to the internet interface and the other both (eth1 and eth2) are each connected to a different switch in the bridged network. I setup bonding (bond0) with active failover for eth1 and eth2. Then I added eth0 and bond0 to br0 and brought it up with an ip. I am able

libvirt problems. Create bridged network via cmdline?
Hello! I've faced a weird problem. And I totally can't understand how libvirt handles networks. The thing that i need to do is simple. I create a bridge in my ubuntu host, the following config: *iface eth0 inet manual* * * *auto br0* *iface br0 inet dhcp* * bridge_ports eth0* * bridge_stp on* * bridge_maxwait 0* That's OK, and my bridge turns up automatically. But I don't

Bridge and routing question
Hi all, Perhaps I''ve miss something... I have read every FAQ and documentation from shorewall.net before asking question here, hope someone can help me ! Try many things DNAT, netmasq, proxy arp, it doesn''t work. LAN and PRIVATE network can''t see each other, i can''t ping PRIVATE LAN from LAN and vice-versa. I first think of routing error, but i can''t

[Bridge] Setting the interfaces in promiscuous mode
Hello, I have been using the bridging facilities provided by Linux (vanilla 2.6.7 SMP with UML skas host patch applied) to bridge a regular physical ethernet network (on interface eth0) with a virtual network (on interface tap0, cf uml_switch, http://user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net/networking.html). A couple of virtual machines (run using user-mode linux, a tool that enables you to run linux

problem with bridged network for a kvm guest
I'm having trouble with the bridged network setup. I'm new to kvm, but I got a window xp sp2 guest set up without trouble a few days ago. I followed the instructions in the RH virtualization guide, and all was fine until I had to reboot the host machine a few days later. Then, I lost networking altogether on the host machine. I lost track of all the things I tried, but finally got

A word about bridgeing to the wise...
I have seen and responded to many different bridging related firewalling questions as of late. There seems to be a common assumption that IPTables does not and / or can not see bridged traffic. This is not the case. If you enable the "Bridged IP/ARP packets filtering" (CONFIG_BRIDGE_NETFILTER) option IPTables can see and act on bridged traffic. If this is turned on and you have

Bridging local physical interface to tinc
I can’t seem to find info about layer 2 tinc tap interface bridge with local physical nic. I have successfully created two nodes configuration with tinc acting as switch. My problem is ethernet packets only flow between two nodes and not to hosts on bridged nic. Example: Server 1 - eth0 bridged with tinc tap device, then bridge gets IP via dhcp server on physical nic subnet. Server 2 - local
