Virtio Balloon- Can not see the results
with kvm and virtio- would -m 1024 take proceedence over -balloon virtio? when i use both together, i see memory stay around 1024 MB less on my host side. I know the guest is not taking but a fraction of that ram, so I would expect the virtio balloon to take the majority of the guests ram and hand it back to the host. this is using the free util/command to take snapshots of the host memory.?

Assigning values based on a separate reference (lookup) table
Dear R Users, I have a data frame of 360 rows by 720 columns (259200 values). For each value in this grid I am hoping to apply an equation to, to generate a new grid. One of the parts of the equation (called 'p') relies on reading from a separate reference table. This is Table 4 at: http://www.fao.org/docrep/s2022e/s2022e07.htm#3.1.3%20blaney%20criddle%20method (scroll down a little).

[PATCH v2 0/2] fix "perf top" soft lockups under Xen
v2: - fix compile issues if no CONFIG_SMP, Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk - move inc_irq_stat after irq_work_run These 2 patches fixed the "perf top" soft lockups under Xen reported by Steven at: https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/2/9/506 Both Steven and I tested it and "perf top" works well now. The soft lockup code path is: __irq_work_queue arch_irq_work_raise

iwl4965 causes soft lockups
Hi all, Annoying issue.. my ThinkPad T61 has an iwl4965 wireless card. When I have the wireless switch on, I experience a lot of issues.. system keeps freezing..unfreezing..freezing..etc. Sometimes, a soft lockup is logged to /var/log/messages. psmouse.c also sometimes throws an error saying the mouse lost synchronization. Obviously, this is causing the system to freeze for a sec and

/etc/security/limits.conf : rss
Hello, I run CentOS 5.6 on a Dell PowerEdge R815 with 256 GB of RAM. We use Sun Grid Engine to schedule jobs on this node. I want to limit the memory usage about 150 GB per process. So i use the /etc/security/limits.conf configuration file. I test this configuration with some tools with a lower GB limit (about 2 or 4 GB), and it works ! But, at least one process (oases - a bioinformatics

hi guys I wonder if any of you might be using SFN6122F-R7 SFP+ (SFC9000, same firmware everywhere, Centos 7.5 too. I'm trying poor man's setup to get the servers onto 10GbE network. Setup is such that three Dell R815 are connected to each other, each has one Solarflare(SFP ports) and each Solarflare is set as net-team(both ports on a card are net-team device) with runner in broadcast

Behavior of disk caching with qcow2 disks
Hello, I am running several virtualization servers with QEMU 1.4.x and libvirt 1.0.2 on Ubuntu 12.04 and am working on optimizing the cache= and aio= options for the virtual machines. These VM images are mostly qcow2, and are served both from a local ext4 filesystem (with data=ordered, barrier) and from an NFS mountpoint (with sync). The local filesystem sits on top of an md software RAID of SATA

soft lockups during live migrate..
Trying to migrate a 64bit PV guest with 64GB running medium to heavy load on xen 3.4.0, it is showing lot of soft lockups. The softlockups are causing dom0 reboot by the cluster FS. The hardware has 256GB and 32 CPUs. Looking into the hypervisor thru kdb, I see one cpu in sh_resync_all() while all other 31 appear spinning on the shadow_lock. I vaguely remember seeing some thread on this while
