init.d scripts not starting at boot
I have just deployed a new CentOS 6.4 image on AWS, and I'm having issues with init.d scripts not starting up. I've verified the following; 1) They work on their own after boot 2) They're set to run at runlevel 3,4, and 5 via chkconfig 3) The system boots up in runlevel 3 (no GUI) 4) There are no lingering PID files around after boot 5) Permissions

Asterisk SIP attacks and sshguard
Hello, We had been seeing SIP-guessing attacks on our Asterisk server here. While it wasn't that hard to write a once-a-minute cron job to spank the lusers, that runs once a minute and creates little spikes in the usage and I/O graphs, and is slower to respond than I'd really prefer. I felt that it'd be much cooler to get something more comprehensive put together. We don't use

fail2ban setup centos 7 not picking auth fail?
Just to add another alternative while we're discussing the subject, I've got a soft spot for CSF as a replacement for fail2ban, and it has a lot of additional features as well. https://www.configserver.com/cp/csf.html P. You can take an existing script, for another piece of software reported by Logwatch, retain the beginning and ending parts, and create your own version. The completed script should be placed in /etc to ensure it is not

Xen C6 kernel 4.9.13 and testing 4.9.15 only reboots.
Here is something interesting... I went through the BIOS options and found that one R710 that *is* functioning only differed in that "Logical Processor"/Hyperthreading was *enabled* while the one that is *not* functioning had HT *disabled*. Enabled Logical Processor and the system starts without issue! I've rebooted 3 times now without issue. Dell R710 BIOS version 6.4.0 2x Intel(R)

btrfs: failed to read chunk root
Hello, trying out btrfs on my linux installation. I am running Funtoo with Linux 3.0 kernel. After a reboot kernel panicked (no access to error log since it is my root volume that failed). I get this using a rescue cd (2.6.38, btrfs v 0.19) and then trying to mount : [  752.129118] btrfs bad tree block start 0 131072 [  752.129152] btrfs: failed to read chunk root on sda5 [  752.132190] btrfs:

Ben -- probably the ACR changes in 5.6 don't fall back nicely anymore when there's no firmware? The load shouldn't be failed, just GR disabled... Zeno -- if you grab linux-firmware, it should be all better. Not sure if you're missing it on purpose or by accident. Xen C6 kernel 4.9.13 and testing 4.9.15 only reboots.
Dave, Take a look at this kernel as it is the one I think we are going to release (or a slightly newer 4.9.2x from kernel.org LTS). This version has some newer settings that are more redhat/fedora/centos base kernel like WRT what is a module and what is built into the kernel, etc. https://people.centos.org/hughesjr/4.9.x/ Thanks, Johnny Hughes On 04/14/2017 05:16 AM, Anderson, Dave wrote: >

how to enable auto-start on newer versions of Xen ?
PJ, I didn't have virsh installed (libvirt-client).? After having installed it, it still didn't see the process: virsh autostart testvm error: failed to connect to the hypervisor error: no valid connection error: Failed to connect socket to '/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock': No such file or directory Then, after having installed libvirt, it gives essentially the same error.
