Syntax for ACLs?
Hey all, Is there better documentation on setting up ACLs for the wiki than what's here? (http://wiki.centos.org/SyntaxReference?action=show&redirect=centoswiki%2FSyntaxReference) Thanks, jzb -- Joe Brockmeier | Principal Cloud & Storage Analyst jzb at redhat.com | http://community.redhat.com/ Twitter: @jzb | http://dissociatedpress.net/ -------------- next part -------------- A

Seeking Speakers for Upcoming Dojos
Hi all, If you follow the centos-promo mailing list (it exists!)[1] you may have noticed a lot of discussion lately around putting together a lot of CentOS Dojos this year. We're currently planning, and have announced, several Dojos: * March 31 (Santa Clara, CA): http://wiki.centos.org/Events/Dojo/SantaClara2014 * April 10 (Denver, CO): http://wiki.centos.org/Events/Dojo/Denver2014 *

Container Pipeline placeholder
Hi, I've created http://wiki.centos.org/ContainerPipleline as a placeholder to start populating about the pipeline. Although this will run from ci.centos.org hosted infra ( http://wiki.centos.org/QaWiki/CI ) - and it will form a sort of ecocystem test + release process, I think it deserves scope beyond being just under the CI namespace. - KB -- Karanbir Singh, Project Lead, The CentOS

the seven.c.o blog and twitter
hi, wondering if we should setup a twitter account for seven.centos.org and have it linked into the blog code to auto tweet on new posts ? There is a lot of great content on the blog now, and I suspect its not getting a lot of air time. Could we do something similar for the centos facebook groups as well ? Handling a relationship between users and newsletter subcriptions.
Hey Everyone! I have a newsletter system that contains a multitude of different newsletters. In this case three but the system allows the user to add more. Every user can be subscribed to any amount of given newsletters. So what I did was I created a user model, newsletter model, and subscription model. The subscription model belongs to one user and one newsletter. However,

A request for help managing wiki permissions
Long story short, the core team doesn't need to be in the business of micro-managing wiki permissions. We've not been that good at it during the best of times, and as the 6.6 build process is showing we've clearly let some stuff slip without following up on it appropriately here. What I'd propose is that 3-4 people who have been around the distribution a while (perhaps John

Proposal for standardized mugshots
Hi, The first issue of the newsletter is being finalized to be released on Tuesday. For this we wanted to personalize the content a bit (and also credit contributions) by adding mugshots when we report about people and/or get contributed content. To facilitate this, we need a standard to refer to these mugshots and for this I'd like to propose the following convention for everyone who

Slightly OT : newsletters, mail formatting and netiquette
Hi, This question is not exactly CentOS-related strictly speaking, but here goes. I'm running a few newsletter servers for myself and a handful of clients on public CentOS servers with PHPList. For the last twenty years or so I've followed the basic rule that mails should have no formatting whatsoever, only simple text. And now I wonder if that basic rule of netiquette also applies to

Firefox 3.5 Issues
I downloaded Firefox 3.5 from the M. Harris site and, for the most part, have had good luck with it. But I have also had hard crashes that take down CentOS, not just Firefox. It happened to me twice on eBay (on the same page) -- and now I can replicate it as many times as I want by going to... http://wiki.centos.org/Newsletter ...and choosing one of the two newsletters, linked there. fields_for weirdness
I just did a large upgrade to to Rails 2.3.4 and I am trying to make use of the more modern view features. I have a Newsletter object. Newsletter has many Sections. I also have: accepts_nested_attributes_for :sections on the Newsletter object. I have the typical scaffolded new.html.erb with: <% form_for(@newsletter) do |f| %> in there, I am trying to populate the first Section

Wiki navibar Newsletter reference
Every wiki page contains a link to http://wiki.centos.org/Newsletter/Latest in the navibar at the top and bottom of the page. Currently that redirects to http://wiki.centos.org/Newsletter/1005 which is the Newsletter dated 10 July 2010, hardly current news. Perhaps someone can suggest a better communication vehicle to display when the Newsletter link is selected? And change whatever master wiki

has_many :through extra domain model question
If I have a model called Newsletter with: has_many :subscribers, :through => :subscriptions and wanted to list all the subscribers, but show what level their subscriptions was (level is in subscriptions table), how would I best do that? Do I have to use my own select to get what I want or are the attributes from subscriptions available to me through the join somehow (I am suspecting not)?

Newsletter feedback
Hey We have now published the sixth version of the Newsletter and I think it is time to ask YOU ( the reader ) what we can improve. The current trend is away from really technical details more to a light read and entertaining stuff. Is this a good way to go. Or should we focus more on the technical side again*. Or is the balance right? What do you want to read about? What sections do you want?

mass emails
Say we have 20k-50k users signed up for an email newsletter. Does anyone have any data on how well ActionMailer does with mass emails? How long would that take to send? Anything I should watch out for? Thanks, Joe

Newsletter 1002, Spanish version
Hello, I have just finished my Spanish translation of the last Newsletter. As I have no edit rights to the proper zone, I have written it into my own personal page http://wiki.centos.org/EduardoGrosclaude. Please some elder member of the familiy snip it off from there and hang it where it belongs. :) I have not involved myself in prior proofreading, so this may be a bit off. May I slip in a small

Granting Access Rights
Problem; We need to modify access rights on the Unix server so that when file(s) are created in a directory the file(s) get the group (rw-) access privileges. When creating files in Unix the files do receive the group (rw-) access rights. However, files created on a PC with WINDOWS 95 within the same directory will not receive the group (rw-) access rights. We have added the following to the
