Gutenprint - Gimp - Color pcl files
Everyone,
I am trying to create a 'color' *.pcl from a pdf file with the use of
gimp and the gutenprint gimp plugin. I have done this easily to
create a black & white *.pcl file, but have not found a way to create a
file that contains the 'color' commands for an HP laser printer.
I am running Centos 7.5 with all of the latest updates. gutenprint-

using lpadmin to add printers in CentOS 7 (v. CentOS 6)
In CentOS 6, I could do:
lpinfo -m
then pick the model I want and put it as the option to -m in lpadmin
(line wrapped):
/usr/sbin/lpadmin -p printer -o printer-is-shared=false -o Duplex=None
-o Resolution=600dpi -m 'gutenprint.5.2://pcl-g_5e/expert Generic
PCL 5e Printer - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.5' -v 'socket://mydomain.edu'
Alas, in CentOS 7, no matter what I do, I always get:

BriscCAD - Installation and problems
Hi All,
I am running Debain|testing, and have a problem with BricsCAD.
I downloaded the rpm from http://www.bricscad.com,
and used alien to convert to a deb. All seemed ok, but a doubleclick
on the icon gave no result. With everything installed, I could read
the readme. The definitive statement appeared to be:
"This version will not run with WINE releases older than
september 2005"

Printing in Wine 20050725
I have just reinstalled wine on my Debian Sid (unstable) system after several years without it, in order to run a handful of Windows applications: IE, Lotus Notes, ... I use CUPS to support printing under Linux, and several years ago had no real problems printing from Windows applications running under Wine. However, I am now unable to print from any of them using Wine release 20050725. When I

printer only prints one page, if anything
I've got a Brother HL-L2360D series printer connected to Centos 7.
CUPS lists it as Generic PCL6/PCL Printer - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.9 .
When I tell it to print a pdf file, it prints at most the first page.
After powering the thing off and turning it on again,
it printed page 3 of pages 3-6 .
On trying it again, the thing claimed it was receiving data
and printed page 3 of pages 3-6 again.

halp!
I'm trying to get my Lexmark X4270 printer shared on my linux server so my
windows machines can print to it. I have the printer setup in CUPS
apparently, because it is able to print the test page fine. It's using the
Gutenprint driver. And i'm pretty sure I have samba set up correctly because
I also have a HP printer but it's using the HPLIP driver, it works fine from
CUPS and I

Some applications print, some don't
Hi,
I have a wine working for an application called Infovet that is
written in Visual Basic, i guess (there is a dll called Vbrun200.dll).
Everything but printing works fine.
I tested with notepad.exe that comes with wine and it worked well.
The printer was detected, kprinter was started and the page is OK.
Here is my config:

Computing skewness and kurtosis with the moments package
Hi,
I'm a newcomer to R, having previously used SPSS. One problem I have
run into is computing kurtosis. A test dataset is here:
http://www.whinlatter.ukfsn.org/2401.dat

> data <- read.table("2401.dat", header=T)

With SPSS, I get
Skewness -0.320
Kurtosis -1.138
With R:

Problem with factor state when subset()ing a data.frame
Hi folks,
I am running into a problem when calling subset() on a large
data.frame. One of the columns contains strings which are used as
factors. R seems to automatically factor the column when the
data.frame is contstructed, and this appears to not get updated when I
create a subset of the table.
A minimal testcase to demonstrate the problem follows:
sample <- data.frame(c("A",
