Announce: Puppet 2.7.9 Available
It seems like only yesterday that we were releasing Puppet 2.7.8. But a day has passed and here is Puppet 2.7.9. Puppet 2.7.9 is being released so shortly after Puppet 2.7.8 because it introduced a regression on Ruby 1.8.5. The regression, issue #11306 would cause a failure when handling non-empty recursive resources, such as a recursive file resource. The 1.8.5 incompatible code wasn’t caught

[Bridge] recent 2.6 kernels hang on bridge shutdown
With recent 2.6 kernels, the command brctl delbr br0 hangs during shutdown, and the kernel prints this message again and again: unregister_netdevice: waiting for br0 to become free. Usage count = 1 I was able to reproduce this problem with several kernels between (and including) 2.6.9-rc1 and 2.6.11-rc2-bk9. I haven't tried later versions than 2.6.11-rc2-bk9 yet. 2.6.8.1-bk2 still works

(PR#4450)
Hello, When I use det() and qr() on complex matrices the result is in some cases indeterministic. The documentation speaks of numeric matrices (and not of complex matrices) but det() uses qr() which should handle complex matrices correctly. I've also tried using only qr() with similar results. det() returns a value that is not the determinant of the complex matrix (in accordance with

file and user permissions on the puppet master, best practice
Hi all. New puppet developer. Very excited. I have the agents communicating with the puppet master. I''m wondering now about best practice for file and user permissions on the puppet master. Most of my wonder probably stems from general lack of understanding in this area. I''d like to get it right though to avoid refactoring later. 1. What''s the best practice, or your

Deploying puppet via NFS
I''m attempting to deploy puppet via an NFS share. It''s on a local-only network, and it will contain only ruby (gems) and whatever is needed. Seems simple enough, but tonight I am having an issue with this error: # service puppet start Starting puppet: /local/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/ custom_require.rb:36:in `gem_original_require'': no such file to load -- openssl

pop3 retr responses too large lines - Fails with current python's poplib
Since December 2014, clients using the Python poplib library (getmail in my case) started to limit the line length of RETR and other command responses sent from the server to 2048 bytes: See https://bugs.python.org/issue16041 (Included at least in Python-2.7.9) Dovecot doesn't have line split in the POP3 module, so Python fails to retrieve messages with long lines. RFC 1939 says: "
