eclipse now crashing on CentOS 5.10
Got a user screaming... his 5.10 workstation, first time since the upgrade
java-openjdk 1.7.0.51-2.4.4.2
Anyone else seeing that? I logged onto his machine, and I don't use
eclipse, at all, so there shouldn't be a lot of crap in my .eclipse, and
it shows the splash window, then tells me it's crashed in another pop-up,
and it's gone. The error log it tells me about says, in its

Help with Normal Range Estimation for repated measures
I would be grateful if members of the list could point me in the
direction of any code (preferably in R) that will allow me to estimate
95th percentiles from a set of repeated measurements. For example, we
are interested in a clinical measurement where we have 3 measures for 14
subjects and 2 measurements on 24 subjects and single measurement on 36
subjects. We want to combine these to form a

Help with generating data from a 'not quite' Normal distriburtion
I would be very grateful for any help from members of this list for what
might be a simple problem...
We are trying to simulate the behaviour of a clinical measurement in a
series of computer experiments. This is simple enough to do in R if we
assume the measurements to be Gaussian, but their empirical distribution
has a much higher peak at the mean and the distribution has much longer
tails.

Proxy, using checkpassword
Hi all,
I think I may be doing something wrong but, is it possible to proxy POP and IMAP users when using a checkpassword script as the passdb?
I'm trying to write a perl script to handle authentication to a mix of SQL and POP3 sources whilst logging user passwords at the same time for a migration.
At the moment, I'm trying to set environment variables to tell dovecot what to do:

Java versions in CentOS
Hi All,
Following the latest security updates from Oracle, the version of OpenJDK package is currently listed as:
java-1.7.0-openjdk-1.7.0.51-2.4.4.1.el6_5.x86_64.rpm
The Redhat security advisory lists these packages: https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2014-0026.html
but it makes no reference to the build number, which it turns out is important.
The build on the package in centos 6.5 is

CentOS 5 x86_64 was released Thu, 13 Apr 2007 00:36:44 UTC
For software version control and 3rd party ease of use, the software
released on the CentOS-5.0 ISOs mirrored the upstream EL 5.0 release
ISOs (with the exceptions noted in the release notes).
The following zero day updates (all the updates released between the EL5
upstream release date and the CentOS-5.0 release date) are also released
