asterisk 18.18.0 and chan_console
I am trying to get audio to play on Pulse - so just the monitor basically.
I have tried Console/dsp, Console/dmix, Console/pulse, and a couple others.
The error is always the same "console_request: Console device 'dmix' not
found.
What is the correct "Console/XXXX" to play on pulse for UBuntu 20.04 LTS ?
I can "aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav" no

UC su command
Try using "su -" to get a login shell. For example:
# su - user -c pwd
/home/user
# su user -c pwd
/root
You are trying to run pulseaudio in root's environment with the user's
permissions.

Hello,
I have a need to get CentOS 7 sound working on a console only machine. X is

Currently when I try aplay:

I am trying to just play on PulseAudio actually.
This used to work - I have just recently updated to 18.18.0, so I'm puzzled.

script question
I have this line:
ALSA=`aplay --version`
in a script. when I execute the script I get the message
line 187: --version: command not found
when I do "aplay --version" on the command line it works just fine.
What is happening here, --version is a valid command line option?
Thanks,
jerry

No sound
I am currently using a gentoo, (so no pulseaudio installed) and I can't get any sound with wine.
I 'm trying to use alsa because winecfg deleted the entry of oss.
My wine version is 1.3.24
The sound worked one time but doesn't still work...I uninstalled wine, deleted the .wine directory and re-installed but it didn't fix the problem.
These are details about my soundcard :

Hello,
I can't get the sound over alsa to work with Asterisk.
My current version is 1.4.21.2~dfsg-3 running on debian stable.
All settings are the default ones with exception of:
/etc/asterisk/modules.conf:
load => chan_alsa.so
noload => chan_oss.so
/etc/asterisk/alsa.conf:
input_device=default
output_device=default
asterisk is started up and doesn't complain about alsa in

Re: Audio in Windows 10 VM is distorted. Using ALSA.
Hi,
I found the main reason for sound distortions on my system is guest timer
configuration.
The working one is:
<clock offset="localtime">
<timer name="hypervclock" present="yes"/>
<timer name="hpet" present="no"/>
<timer name="rtc" present="yes" track="guest"

upgrade or that I installed vlc (for watching videos on DVD) and the

Audio weirdness on CentOS 6.2 with flash?
Hi List,
I have an ASUS G73S laptop with our favorite OS installed and all
up-to-date.
Sound has always "just worked"
When I use the Preferences>Sound app I can setup the hardware, input,
output and was overall very impressed.
One can check each speaker and the laptop has a front left and right and
also has a bass speaker which seems to be connected to the left rear.

No sound, no information why, where to start?
Wine and spotify used to work. Now it doesn't, and I don't know why.
Main problem is that Wine doesn't give any information back regarding why audio fails, only that it fails.
When using winecfg, opening the Audio tag, choosing Alsa Driver and pressing "Test sound", a pop up reports "Audio test failed!". Nothing more. Choosing OSS, switching to emulation, same

Question on script
Hi all,
I am trying to extract from the aplay -l output the Card and Device numbers.
I had a script that was working but found another motherboard that has
an EXTRA word.
HDA Nvidia and HDA ATI HDMI is what I am talking about below.
how do I search for a line that has HDMI (which I know how to do), then
ignore everything upto the device work and take the next field after that?
Thanks,
Jerry

Alsa audio -- FYI update
Alsa audio started working a couple of days ago with wine and then stopped working yesterday.
Here is my experience.
Pulseaudio cannot be removed any more. So I reinstalled the system and left it there.
I compiled wine git and installed, and then installed DNS 10.
Then I re-booted, ran killall pulseaudio in terminal, and started the program with winecfg's sound set to alsa.
Everything

Pulse audo in 1.3.25+
So I used to use the winepulse patch for wine. (Yes I like pulse). But
since 1.3.25+ uses mmdevapi for audio, that patch no longer works. That
author points to a wine multimedia git, however, after installing that I
have no more sound in any wine application, and the winecfg test audio says
audio failed. How do I get this new sound server working in wine?
