Semi-OT: install python package in userspace
Just had a look at scikit-learn. An issue you have with the current version of this package is that is depends on NumPy (>= 1.8.2). The version of NumPy in CentOS 7 base is 1.7.1. You may need to look at building a Python virtual environment. You can google that ;) On Tue, Apr 10, 2018 at 9:43 AM, Richard Grainger <grainger at gmail.com> wrote: > I created the epypel (Extra Extra

Semi-OT: install python package in userspace
If you can use python3 rather than python2, it looks like the dependencies in the standard repos are new enough. Do you want me to have a go at packaging scikit-learn for python3 and adding it to the repo? Semi-OT: install python package in userspace
I created the epypel (Extra Extra Python Packages for Enterprise Linux) yum repo for exactly this reason: https://harbottle.gitlab.io/epypel/ There are a bunch of additional Python 2 and Python 3 packages there and if you want any added, please put in a request here: https://gitlab.com/harbottle/epypel/issues/new The repo does not upgrade any packages in base or EPEL, so should be safe to use on

CentOS repo issue
I just built these servers, and the other admin added some more packages, then we moved them into the datacenter. I see errors from a cron job, Could not get metalink https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=epel-7&arch=x86_64 error was 14: curl#6 - "Could not resolve host: mirrors.fedoraproject.org; Unknown error" So I logged on, and ran yum list apcupsd, to see if it was

google.repo
This is annoying. I've got a user who needs chrome installed. I google, and find there's a google.repo. I rpm --import the signing key... and cannot find *where* on google.com I can install their own repo from. Every hit that looks even vaguely close tells me "edit /etc/yum.repos.d/google.repo. I don't want to manually create one, I want *theirs*. Clues for the poor?

Semi-OT: install python package in userspace
CentOS 7 box. As there's no package in any of the repos, we're trying to install scikit-learn in the user's space. It refuses. My late try was, after d/l a .whl from last year, hoping that would work with the numpy package in the regular repos, I did a pip install --user scikit-learn..., and it still seems to want to write to system space: OSError: [Errno 13] Permission denied:

Missing file in current kernel-devel package
Ok, folks, I've identified what my problem is, trying to install the NVidia proprietary drivers: in kernel-devel-3.10.0-514.26.2.el7.x86_64, there is a file /usr/src/kernels/3.10.0-514.26.2.el7.x86_64/include/linux/fence.h It does not exist in the kernel-devel-3.10.0-693.2.2.el7.x86_64 package. Is this something that got missed, or did HR drop it, or....? mark

Yes, I'm on CentOS 6, but as this is a US federal organization (civil sector), I did ask, and was told no repos Over There. Security issues.... local repositories
I need a clarification to the documentation. My manager added a 6.2 repo; however, when I try doing pxeboot installs, it fails, asserting that it can't find the group info. Another admin I work with thinks it's not really what it's failing in, and notes that it 404's on images/updates.img and images/product.img. We *think* that's irrelevant and ok. What is not clear to me is

My FF 60 just crashed randomly when ever it feels liek it. ive since rolled back to older stable versions until community says its now stable. 5.9: wait, or CR?
Hey, folks, I just saw Johnny mention 5.9 yesterday, and this morning, my manager tells me he got about 100 emails from somewhere about 5.9 and a CR repo. So, my questions to the team is: is there a CR repo, and is there some urgency to enabling it, or shall we just wait for the release? The *only* thing I can think of having real issues with is the newest PIV cards.... mark

mirrors down?
Just went to update a couple systems this morning, and first one machine took nearly 15 min to find the mirrors (and it should be getting it all from our own repo, actually), and then the next one showed about 8-10 mirrors down, including Harvard and VCU. Anyone know what's going on? mark
