I Know It's A Stupid Question......
........But I'm trying to give my son a "cool-yet-kind-of-geeky" 13th
Birthday Present......he hinted he liked the CentOS logo, but where
would I find things that are branded with it?....searching the web
doesn't really help me much, only because I'm not sure what I need to be
looking for...any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

CentOS 7
Greetings all, just wondering if anyone knows if / when there will be
training materials for RHEL 7 (CEntOS7) available? The last book I was
able to purchase was the study guide for the RHSCA / RHCE exam, (by
Michal Jang!) Does anyone know if / when the next versions will be out?
I'd like to go through it all with the latest and not "last years model"
under my belt!
Thanks!

Samba, ldap and machine accounts
Hi,
some time a go I started to try a migration form our "old" samba PDC
with smbpasswd user backend to a new ldap based.
I got to the point, that users can login to shares and now I'd liked to
set up the server as an PDC with ldap and machine accounts too.
The smbldap-toosl are installed and configured and I can add a machine
to ldap to a certain point.
The ldap entry is

Rails Noob Question
Apparently the first time I posted this, it was tacked onto the end of
another thread. Please pardon my repost. Won''t happen again.

Howdy. I''m just getting into Rails, and really enjoying it! I''m coming
from the .NET world, so I''ll embarrassedly admit that I''m running it on
winXP and even using SQLServer (for now, may switch to mysql

[HW] Do the HDD cages in rack mount chassis indicate visual/audio HDD failure?
I have no personal experience with rack mount chassis.

have experience in rack mount setups and would like get their advice.
To reduce the H/W cost, I am considering Linux mdadm RAID10 on a 2U chassis.
I would appreciate clarification on the following:
In rack mount chassis, do the cages that house the
hard disks have

Really Weird Question.....
So I just got ahold of an old e-Machine (Model EL1600) with 1GB of
memory. I was going to install CEntOS on it and try to run VirtualBox
for other OS'es. I am curious to know if I have to stick with the 2GB
"max" the specs say the machine can take or if its possible to install a
4GB module that is designed the same? In other words I have seen 2GB DDR
PC2700 memory that will fit

WG: Samba, ldap and machine accounts
Hello G?tz,
grep yourself ldapadmin to administrate samba3
http://ldapadmin.sourceforge.net.
What means to a certain point? You must add the machines on your centosbox
to samba/ldap with the
smbldap-tools (This never worked with my version). I did it with ldapadmin.

Samba 2.0.3 in Domain
We're encountering sporadic difficulties with Samba 2.0.3 on Sun SPARC
Solaris 2.5.1 and 2.7 running in "security = DOMAIN" mode. The PDC logs an

"The session setup from the computer MERCURY failed to authenticate. The

ext3_free_data()
Hi,
why is there a window between statements "err = ext3_journal_get_write_access(handle, this_bh);" and "ext3_journal_dirty_metadata(handle, this_bh);" ?
In my test, there is an error in journal_dirty_metadata: jh is null

CentOS on new Thinkpads
I've had success on "older" model Lenovos.....(T-410 / T-420 / T-430) but anything beyond those seems to have some issue or another. I was even able to swap the standard drive to an SD (250GB) on a T-430 and it's running g like a champ. A lot of the newer stuff is OK as long as you don't have any boutique drivers for video network or sound. YMMV. On Sep 29, 2016 9:18 PM, John

flac worse than shorten ON SOME FILES
had to fix the subject... was getting under my skin!
yeah, could you put up the FLAC version of the
worst track that is less than 20 megs compressed?
(I'll have to grab it with a 56k modem). by worst
I mean the one where shorten beats flac by the most.
also:
1. what version of shorten are you using?
2. what command-line options for flac and shorten
did you use on this track?
thanks,
Josh
