dia under CentOS7
I've added dia to my repo nux-dextop.
BTW LibreOffice Draw can be used as well (with the added bonus that it can also do Visio files AFAIK).

SOLUTION: Atom Processor D4xx/D5xx/N4xx/N5xx Integrated Graphics Controller - GDM login doesn't show up
This problem is so damn weird and frustrating that I thought it would be
worthwhile to post this solution for anyone who may run into this situation in
the future, since I was unable to find any mention of this after much
searching, and no error messages appear in any logfiles that I could find
either.
This applies to a machine with a Atom Processor D4xx/D5xx/N4xx/N5xx Integrated

Idiot-proof method to format a flash drive
Whenever I format a flash drive I'm always terrified that I'm going to fat-finger something in the terminal and accidentally blow away a partition on one of my hard drives. *shudder*
Is gparted the best gui to handle this task? Or is there something better? I'd really prefer something more limited that just allows me to select whatever it sees as a removable drive and disallows any

Samsung Galaxy 3 and Centos
My cell phone provider just sent me a letter stating that my 3 year contract is
up and they will give me a Samsung Galaxy 3 if I will sign a new contract.
I'm wondering how well (or if) that phone will work with Centos 6. My
existing Samsung phone (can't remember the model number) doesn't integrate well
or at all with Centos; whenever I plug it into the computer it finds the phone

Import Nautilus file notes from C6 Gnome to C7 Mate
With C6 Gnome and C7 Mate you can right-click on a file icon, select Properties, select Notes, and write notes about your file.
Does anyone know if those notes can be directly transferred between C6 Gnome and C7 Mate? I'm looking into upgrading someone's desktop machine to C7 and she has a lot of notes attached to her files that she doesn't want to lose.
After doing a bit of

Gnome weather applet stranded
The Gnome weather report applet has ceased working on CentOS5/6. http://weather.noaa.gov/ says "This service is no longer available". Are there any good alternatives? I liked the applet as it allowed the use of a custom radar map.
As I just discovered, the weather functionality of the CentOS6 Gnome clock applet was using the same service.

Installing a gnome-desktop on CENTOS-6.3 following minimal system install.
I am still trying without much success to get a desktop on my minimal
+ virtualization install of a CentOS-6.3 kvm host. When I run startx
I get a desktop but other than the icons for computer, home and trash
there is nothing displayed. I can right click the mouse and from
there I can open a terminal window and creat a folder on the desktop
but I have no title bar and no status bar. There are

Hi Lucian,
It seems to be upstream libvirt-1.2.15-2 with options with_xen and
with_libxl enabled.

Yes, I will look into getting the SRPMS up on the site (though they are
just the ones from EPEL anyway).

The code for the respective applets is quite different. Mate uses weather.com, but I bet the API is different and a fix requires actual coding.
