MIssing bell
Hi,
Earlier I asked how I could arrange a bell tone on my CentOS box.
I have pcspkr loaded, I can play music over my boxes but the system beep
or bell is missing.
Seeveral people commented on gnome issues, but I'm using only text-mode.
Whe I go down with the cursor e.g. on the command-line I dont hear
anything. Is there a way to switch the bell/beep on???

Gnome weather applet stranded
Hi,
NOAA moved the url on which you can get the data.
I use clweather, a little command-line util, I just change the URL in the
sourcecode and it worked again.
The move happen a couple of weeks ago.
The new URL to point the application to is:
http://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/data/observations/metar/decoded/
Good luck & 73,

Relocation of logfiles in logwatch
Hi,
I try to teach logwatch that some of my logfiles are relocated. E.g.,
mail mailog now lives in mail/info and secure has moved too auth/info.
I adjusted /etc/logwatch/conf/logfiles/SERVICE.conf accordingly but
logwatch does not understand.
What is the right way to adapt logwatch to the new reality?

Alsa pulseaudio & procmail
Hi,
I'm using a program called morse to generate morse code signals when mail
is received. This is done by calling this program depending on de subject
or from of the incoming mail.
THis worked fine on CentOS 6 but since I'm using CentOS 7 it does nt work
anymore.
In my procmail logging I get:
ALSA lib pulse.c:243:(pulse_connect) PulseAudio: Unable to connect: Connection refused

Rsyslog problems
Hi,
My rsyslog is not working as expected.
I have some thing in rsyslog.d that do well, like this:
# Log all iptables stuff separately
:msg, contains, "iptables: " {
action(type="omfile" file="/var/log/iptraf/info")
}
No problems with that.
Bu what's in /etc/rsyslog.conf like:
mail.* /var/log/mail/info
don't do anything at all.
Rsyslogd -N1 is OK,

Does OpenSSH have tcp_wrappers *built-in* or just compatibility?
I was under the impression it was just compatibility, and not actually
built-in, but I thought I'd ask here and just make sure of what I'm
saying. :) TIA.

[PATCH] upsd tcp_wrappers parsing and logging

2.2.1 to 2.4.1 migration (allowfrom/tcp_wrappers)
Hello,
I just upgraded my nut 2.2.1 setup to 2.4.1. The "upsdrvctl shutdown"
command now works using a APC Backup-UPS CS350 via USB. Great!
The removed ACL/allowfrom functionality can be replaced by tcp_wrappers.
Unfortunately there isn't much documentation about the migration.
First you have to compile nut with "--with-wrap".
I have a special "nutadmin"

tcp_wrappers
Hi,
I've just started using Dovecot (v1.1.14), and I'm noticing a lot of dictionary
attacks. I searched through the documentation and the mailing list archives
hoping to find support for tcp_wrappers (hosts.deny) support.
I did find some suggested patches in the list from last year, but as far
as I can tell, there is no support in the released versions.
Is this implemented and

Problem with tcp_wrappers
Hello,
I have just found little bug in OpenSSH's tcp_wrappers handling.
In file sshd.c you can find:
if (!hosts_access(&req)) {
close(sock_in);
close(sock_out);
refuse(&req);
}
If username was not requierd for authorization (for example
you are refusing all connection from specific

Problem with TCP_wrappers
Hi,
I''m running into something weird here.
I''m using RH5.1 with tcp_wrappers 7.6.
The syntax for hosts.allow and hosts.deny is:
<service list> : <access list> [ : <shell_command> ]
Everything works when I _don''t_ use the shell_command.
I used the _exact_ line as in the man-pages utilising "safe_finger" (comes
with tcp_wrappers), tcpdchk
