CentOS 6: files now owned by nobody:nobody
Hi, We are running a cluster under CentOS 6.6. We recently attached a new NAS device, running CentOS 6.8 and rsync'd our user file system to it. We noticed that all the files were owned by nobody (with nobody as the group). We copied over the /etc/passwd and /etc/group files from our front-end server to our NAS server. If we log in to the NAS server we see the files owned by their

NFS mounted files owned by nobody
I have 2 centos boxes and I want to NFS mount a dir from one to the other. When I do that the files on the client all are owned by nobody.nobody. I verified that the user and group of the files on the server exist on both hosts and have the same uid and gid. I googled and found this: http://whacked.net/2006/07/26/nfsv4nfs-mapid-nobody-domain/ domainname on both machines returns (none). I edited

Disabling services in CentOS 5.5
Hello all, I have been doing some searching for information about disabling services within a CentOS 5.5 install. I have found a few different opinions, and wanted to ask for some feedback. First off, the system is running a LAMP stack to serve a web application. It will only be doing email to send occasional messages out (sent via the application only). It will not be receiving email for any

Instability with later 4.x kernels?
I have an Athlon with about 10 HDDs plugged in, primarily to do Disk2Disk backups. Some drives are PATA, some are SATA, some are USB. A strange concoction, but it's been relatively stable for some 4-5 years, despite numerous upgrades and so on. It's been running CentOS 4 for a long, long time. (years) Recently, I've started to have problems with its stability, and after 2 weeks

btrfs over nfs
I have been experimenting exporting btrfs subvolumes over nfs. Main subvolume is filesys1 mounted at /filesys1. Below this is subvolume base, user1 is in base and documents is in user1. documents is mounted at /documents. /etc/exports is: /filesys1/base/user1 172.16.0.0/24(rw,no_acl,no_root_squash,fsid=0) /filesys1/user1-snapshot 172.16.0.0/24(rw,no_acl,no_root_squash,fsid=0)

Multiple series plot with different 'type' argument
Hi: I need to plot two time series in the same plot and they cover the same time range and have the same frequency. With RSiteSearch("multiple series plot") i found this post by Gabor Grothendieck: http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02a/archive/42281.html Exactly what i need except for one detail. I want one series to be made of points and the other by a line. When I simply try: xts

Not Quite Minimal CentOS 6.2
Hi All, I a working on configuring a not-quite minimal installation of CentOS 6.2. I tried doing the "minimal" installation available with the installer, but it's a bit too minimal to be useful. So I'm cutting down from a less minimal starting place. I'm pretty familiar with 5.x, but what I'm finding in 6.2 is a lot of new stuff, and a lot of odd behavior. For example,

How to enable EDAC kernel module for checking ECC memory?
In order to support ZFS, we upgraded a backups server with a new, ECC motherboard. We're running CentOS 6 with ZFS on Linux, recently patched. Now, I want to enable EDAC so we can check for memory errors (and maybe PCI errors as well) but so far, repeatedly pounding on the Google hasn't yielded exactly what I need to do to enable EDAC. One howto was covering PCI and edac, but

Need something like multiple plots in ts.plot but then change x values
Hi: I need to plot two data sets and then I need to change labels of xaxis. I can manage to achieve something like it with this: x<-data.frame(a=c(1,2,3,4,5),b=c(2,4,6,8,10)) y<-data.frame(a=c(3,4,5),b=c(1.5,2,2.5)) xts <- ts(x$b,start=x$a[1]) yts <- ts(y$b,start=y$a[1]) ts.plot(xts, yts, col=c("red","blue")) But ts.plot does not allow to change x labels. Besides,

Spectral Coherence
Greetings, I would like to estimate a spectral coherence between two timeseries. The stats : spectrum() returns a coh matrix which estimates coherence (squared). A basic test which from which i expect near-zero coherence: x = rnorm(500) y = rnorm(500) xts = ts(x, frequency = 10) yts = ts(y, frequency = 10) gxy = spectrum( cbind( xts, yts ) ) plot( gxy $ freq, gxy $

errors appears in my time Series regression fomula
Dear all, I found really difficult with the time series questions, please help me with this monthly airline series! I have run the following r code, and there is an error appeared at the end. The data files was enclosed in the email. I'm sorry the errors message appeared in chinese, but it says "plot.xy(xy.coords(x, y), type = type, ...) : errors in argument has more than 3

R-beta: Shared libraries on AIX
I've installed R on AIX. For starters, this did not work out of the box. centos on 64M 350Mhz pentimum II
All, I have an old computer 64M 350Mhz pentium II. centos os 4.1 installs on it fine. however on boot it says low memory and it kills certain processes. httpd or sendmail. I have a 2GIG swap and I did a chkconfig XXX off on a few things like xfs, nfs, httpd, kudzu. My old 2.4 kernel used to run in 4M with a swap... I had recompiled the kernel (took a while) to enable the cyclades module. Any

Slow write times to gluster disk
Hi Soumya, We just had the opportunity to try the option of disabling the kernel-NFS and restarting glusterd to start gNFS. However the gluster demon crashes immediately on startup. What additional information besides what we provide below would help debugging this? Thanks, Pat -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: gluster-nfs crashing on start Date: Mon, 7 Aug 2017 16:05:09

If its NFSv4, then its most likely a problem with your idmapper. Make sure that the rpc.idmapd is running on your client, and that your server has appropriate ID mapping enabled. If its NFSv4, are you using sec=krb5*? -- Jonathan Billings

nobody owned smbd processes are not ending
I am running the latest release of Samba on RH8 (2.2.7-5.8.0). I use it primarily to provide master browse functionality, and to act as a print server (using CUPS 1.1.17-0.2). I am watching a TOP session, after printing from a W2K workstation. (I restarted Samba before I did this). There is now one smbd processed owned by nobody, which is not ending (and the print has completed). In my

Plotting 3 Time Series
Hi, I am fairly new to R so this may be easy for some. I have one column that is the Type="A, B' T" and I have another column that lists Price='894, 895, 896' I wanted to plot three different series based upon the Type...If B than xts..If T yts... How exactly do I do this? Thanks in advance -- View this message in context:
