kde 4.3 beta 2, compiz 8.2 - panel pager doesn't work until plasma crash and restart
Listmates,
Woking with compiz 8.2 on kde 4.3 beta 2 on Archlinux, the plasma "kicker"
pager widget does not work correctly after compiz 8.2 is started. Before
compiz is started you see the 4 small desktop representations stacked 2x2.
After you start compiz, the panel only shows a single large pane 'Desktop 1'
no matter what desktop you are on.
The strange part is that

libplasma - no downgrade
I tried, last night, to downgrade kdelibs, I think it is, to resolve the
libplasma crash that we talked about yesterday... and yum told me there
was no upgrade or downgrade. I'm sort of assuming that I'd have to go back
to 6.4... unless I need to add a repo - the vault? wget it, and downgrade
it locally?

question about mouse and kvm switch
Greetings all:
I have a CentOS 3.6 and 4.3 box sharing a kvm switch. Switching from the 4.3 box to the 3.6 and
back again, the mouse stops responding. The keyboard works just fine, and I can ssh into the box.
I have tried <ctl><alt><bksp> and while it does restart the x server, it doesn't seem to affect
the mouse.
Is there something I can run to get the mouse recognized

netbook screen suddenly goes black
Hi all!
I'm running an up to date Centos-7 on my Acer Aspire One netbook. have
been for, well, ever since C7 was released.
Just had an event today that also happened 2 or 3 times with earlier
systems installed, but I never pursued it.
What happens is that suddenly while working away on the desktop the
display suddenly goes black... not black as in turned off, I can see
that the backlight is

Steam games crash during gameplay
Hey everyone!
I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 w/ ALSA and the Ubuntu-packaged ATI Catalyst driver for my ATI X1700.
My problem is that I'll be playing CounterStrike or Half-Life or BrainBread for maybe 2 minutes if I'm lucky, and then suddenly my computer locks up. I get to hear the same 1-second slice of in-game sound over and over again and the screen stays frozen. In CS:CZ, it seems that

How to disable screen locking system-wide?
By default, CentOS v5 requires a user's password when the system wakes
up from the screensaver. This can be disabled by each user, but how
can I disable this system-wide? Many of my users forget to do this,
which results in workstations being locked up.

netbook screen suddenly goes black
Try with CTRL-ALT-F2 (go to the console) and CTRL-ALT-F1 (go back to the
X-Window). This may help...

CentOS 7, ctrl-alt-bksp
I've been googling, and looking at the CentOS wiki - which, btw, when I do
a full search on "control-alt-backspace", gives me three pages... in
Japanese, I think.
How do I re-enable userspace restart X?

no BkSp in plan9, ubuntu root fs failure, and what''s up with bsd?
In usual fashion, I have a few questions:
1) I can''t get the virtual terminal of plan9 to recognize either my
Backspace or Delete key. This is particularly annoying; can anyone help?
2) I''ve got two linux root fs images that I created through dd: one for
rubix and another for ubuntu. Rubix works brilliantly, but Ubuntu gets
a kernel panic during boot. The two both mount have

@ERROR: access denied / using rsync 2.5.6 over SSH on Solaris
Dear list members,
this is very similar to a problem which has been discussed last summer
on the list, but there was no final solution then (as far as I could
follow the thread of messages). Would you please take a look at my
problem, to see if I'm missing something?
Here is the useful data:

When I submit the form with field_column, the actual
image is not
uploaded, only temp files are crreated and I dont see
actual file created and the image file name is not in
the database and get "fieldWithErrors". Then if

database record is generated.
Here is the log file. I print @params and @wallpaper.

Where is the wallpaper?
At work I have an ADDC in Samba4.8.2, and I have set an institutional
wallpaper. So far so good... I donĀ“t know why, in about 15-20 days,
after that, the wallpaper gone missing and the wallpaper go black... I
have checked all the logs in samba but nothing showed up so far related
to this issue. I clear all the logs, restart the server, and the issue
continues, checked all system logs and
