hme0 interface going up/down (dhclient ?)
Hi all, I am having an issue where my hme0 interface is always turning up and down with dhclient requesting a lease. I am thinking this could be the same issue described by Jeremy Chadwick on June 9th: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-stable/2013-June/073711.html Everything was fine on 8.2-STABLE and older versions. It was then upgraded directly to 9.0-STABLE

[LLVMdev] ComplexPattern
Hi, I was wondering if someone could explain precisely what the ComplexPattern tablegen class does? Here's the first line of the definition (from TargetSelectionDAG.td) for reference: class ComplexPattern<ValueType ty, int numops, string fn, list<SDNode> roots = [], list<SDNodeProperty> props = [],

Intermittent <MRxSMB; W50:> "Delayed Write Failed" when writing to Office 2007's "Recent Files" index.dat on a network share
We're in the process of upgrading our WinXP SP3 users to Office 2007 on a network where %APPDATA% is on a Samba 3.2.5 network share, and our testing users are getting dialogged approximately once a day with the message "Delayed Write Failed : Windows was unable to save all the data for the file \windows\settings\appdata\Microsoft\Office\Recent\index.dat". That's both annoying and

recommended setup for amd64 7-STABLE with ZFS, Samba 3.2 and possibly ACLs?
Hi, could anyone give recommendations (or share experience) regarding using ZFS: - FreeBSD 7-Stable (amd64 with 8GB RAM) + special tuning necessary (apart from increasing kernel memory to 1 or more GB for ZFS) - Samba 3.2 + ACLs possible directly under ZFS? + recommended compile options? - NFS - email (imap) - jails (I have seen some problems exist with using snaphots within

every 2nd echo-request malformed when ping -s >4067
Hello, while checking new mtu9k-setup, I discovered that ping has some odd behaviour. If I use payloadsize > 4067, every 2nd icmp-echo-request seems to be malformed: ping -s 4068 -D 10.5.49.65 1st: 12:21:09.048447 IP 10.5.49.126 > 10.5.49.65: ICMP echo request, id 46597, seq 0, length 4076 0x0000: 4500 1000 0f2d 4000 4001 a507 0a05 317e 2nd: 12:21:10.052891 IP 10.5.49.126 >

Hardware monitoring for Intel Atom D945GCLF.
Hi, Is there a way to make use of hardware monitoring on Intel 945GCLF (with Atom 230 cpu)? It is relatively new child of Intel, but maybe someone figured it out yet. pciconf -lv shows this: ichsmb0@pci0:0:31:3: class=0x0c0500 card=0x464c8086 chip=0x27da8086 rev=0x01 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82801G (ICH7 Family) SMBus

Short SMART check causes disk op timeouts
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 Hi, I have recently bought a new disk (Seagate 500G, ST3500320NS). I have enabled SMART checking using the smartmontools as usual for the disk (/dev/ad6 -a -S on -s (S/../.././03|L/../../7/03) -m root). The problem is that each time the test runs I get messages like the following in /var/log/messages: Oct 26 04:54:15 35 kernel: ad6: TIMEOUT -

I tried adjusting all the ACPI related BIOS settings without success. Bryce

fxp multicast forwarding problems
Hi, Whilst doing some QA work on XORP on my desktop, which has fxp0 and msk0, fxp0 got totally hosed. I was running PIM-SM and IGMPv2 router-mode on the box at the time. I wonder if this is related to the problems with fxp multicast transmission I saw back in April. I'm a bit concerned about this as fxp is still a very widespread and useful network chip. I am running

kernel panic on em0/taskq
Hello, i'm experiencing periodic kernel panics on a server with FreeBSD 7.0-STABLE #0: Tue May 20 19:09:43 CEST 2008. My big problem is that the system is not performing memory dumping and/or automatic reoboot, it just stays there. Here' console output: em0: watchdog timeout -- resetting kernel trap 12 with interrupts disabled Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode cpuid = 0;

dueling (s)printf()'s - what's the cure?
Hello All, I mentioned a problem with this once before, and was referred to other threads that also talked about this. But I believe a recent problem I was experiencing, may have been related to this: [: -le: argument expected. So I'd like to bring it up again, in hopes that someone might have a cure. Specifically, two printf()'s are sent to the same line, which results in a /very/ hard

ZFS Panic after freebsd-update
Hello, I have not had much time to research this problem yet, so please let me know what further information I might be able to provide. This weekend I attempted to upgrade a computer from 8.2-RELEASE-p3 to 8.4 using freebsd-update. After I rebooted to test the new kernel, I got a panic. I had to take a picture of the screen. Here's a condensed version: panic: page fault cpuid = 1 KDB:
