state of lfarkas KVM repository + Centos KVM wiki
Hi all,
I have followed the wiki howto to install KVM on my C5 server with a F10
x86_64 guest. Howto here:
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/KVM
With one small problem here:
http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=74275&topic_id=19726
the guest is really running stable for one week now.
Maybe someone could have a look at udev why it always sets permission

Windows Server 2008 with the KVM --no-acpi option
KVM version 84
Host OS: Centos version: 2.6.18-92.el5
Guest OS: Windows Server 2008 Web
Processor: Intel Xeon L5420 Quad-Core
I have installed kvm version 84 from .rpm's on lfarkas.org. Without the
--no-acpi option, Windows 2008 boots fine. With the --no-acpi option,
the VM displays the following:

don't use centos 7 as a developer workstation
Hi,
May be it's not clear to everyone.. so this's just a quick notice to
everyone.
Don't use CentOS 7 as a developer workstation since currently there is
not included any developer IDE. As eclipse was pulled out from the main
distro and put into Red Hat Developer Toolset (which is imho a good idea
not to use a 7 years old IDE). But Red Hat Developer Toolset is still
not supported on

after a long time it seems the current packages which needed for kvm on
centos-5 host seems to working (ie. worth to change). my repo:
http://www.lfarkas.org/linux/packages/centos/5/SRPMS/
contains the current set of rpms what we use (about a week):
-----------------------------
libvirt-0.6.0-1
python-virtinst-0.400.1-1
virt-manager-0.6.1-1
virt-top-1.0.1-7.el5

a few more notes
hi,
while all files is owned by nsd user and nsd run as nsd the nsd.db is
still owned by root user (because the compiler run as root and create
this file as root, ok i know just it'd be better if this file is owned
by nsd too).
another strange thing is that on the slave nsd i've got such messages:

zonec: reading zone "lfarkas.org".

lfarkas Repository + KVM on centos Wiki
Dear all,
I've succesfully installed a F10 x86_64 KVM guest on C5 x86_64 with the
help of the wiki - running for 7 days now. :)
Two questions;
What's the state of the lfarkas's repository - can it be trusted - I
guess yes but google did not help much.
It's only mentioned in the kvm howto - not under the third party repos.
And sadly http://www.lfarkas.org/ is empty.
Second q.

network raid file system/server
hi,
we've a few 10-20 server in a lan each has 4-8 hdd. we'd like to create
one big file server on these server hard disks and we'd like to create
it in a redundant way ie:
- if one (or more) of the hdd or server fails the whole filesystem still
usable and consistent.
- any server in this farm can see the same storage/filesystem.
it's someting a big network raid5-6... storage where

questions
hi,
I'm look around to find a usable imap server and find dovecot.
I read all the docs, but I've got a few questions:
- currently we use courier (since we find and install it quickly).
can we switch from it to dovecot smoothly?
or we have to convert the maildirs somehow?
- I've got a few plan in my mind it it possible to do it with dovecot
now or in the near future (if yes what

dovecot.spec
hi,
I'm just recoginze that dovecot contains an rpm spec file. unfortunately
it's not too useful since an
rpm -ta dovecot-.x.y.tar.gz
can't be used since just the dovecot.spec.in is in the tarbar and not
the actual spec file (which is in this from not useful in the above
form). anyway here is my patch to the spec.in.

kvm-69
hi guys,
I came across Gerd Hoffmann's repo at
http://kraxel.fedorapeople.org/el5/ which seems to have a much newer KVM
for EL5 - has anyone managed to get that working ? Even trying with
the kver he used ( 2.6.18-53.el5 ) does not seem to satisfy all required
symbols.

older distro have newer package in base repo
Just wondering why in EL5's base repo the latest supported mysql
package is 5.5 and in EL6's base repo it is 5.1? Seems strange to me.
(it is clear that the SCL of EL6 has version 5.5 but that implies a
different update policy).
