Monitor Wireless Networks
Hi,
I am having interference with my neighbouring wireless networks.
Is there a linux tool that enables me to monitor the ESSID, channel,
power output and other information for neighbouring wireless networks?
I am especially interested in the channel so I can choose a different one.
Thank you,

Wireless DELL M90 with CentOS 5.1
Hi,
I have a laptop DELL M90 with an Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card.
After installed new rpm drivers (see below), my card is recognized and I can see my wireless acces point with (iwlist - iwconfig) but it's impossible to connect to it. It seem that I can't obtain an IP address. In the log message I have "dhclient : DHCPDISCOVER on eth1 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval )

Centos 4 & Cisco 350 MiniPCI Wireless
I have an IBM Thinkpad with this beastie in it. The card was
immediately recognized and uses the airo driver. No matter what I do, I
can't get it to successfully connect to my WAP. Sometimes it sees the
access point (as evidenced by an iwlist wifi0 scan seeing the network)
and sometimes I can actually get it to connect ( as evidenced by the
iwlist command showing the WAP ID).

Set static IP
Hello,
I want my CentOS 6.5 computer to have a static IP. Currently I get the
IP I want because I have my router assign it on the basis of mac address.
I placed the following file as:
/etc/sysconfig/networking-scripts/eth0
DEVICE="eth0"
BOOTPROTO=static
HWADDR=00:1F:D0:9E:AE:67
ONBOOT=yes
TYPE=Ethernet
USERCTL=no
IPV6INIT=no
PEERDNS=yes
NETMASK=255.255.255.0

Recommendation for a Linux alternative to Centos - ATH9K disaster
I persuaded a reluctant friend to buy a new computer. I enthusiastically
extolled the joys and benefits of Centos and promised to install it on
his new machine - dual booting with Micro$oft Windoze 7.
His super-duper new laptop arrived. Acer, AMD 4 core, fast etc. but not
as nice looking as my impressive HP DV5. The wireless refused to
connect.
After 8 hours on Saturday I could sometimes see

Activating Wireless from command line
Folks
Is there a way in CENTOS6 to define and turn on wireless from the
command line. My environment is as follows:
I'm trying to build a laptop for travel, and have KVM-guests for both
Linux Gui and Windows, using internal NAT networking. The underlying
host machine doesn't really need to be much more than a NAT provider,
and the usual command-line utilities.
When I arrive at a

backups/version controll/source controll
Hi,
i was wondering if there was some kind of program i could download to
keep track of my rails applications; something in the vicinity of
subversion (a open-source backing-up tracking program - i.e to keep
track of my applications once they are on the net, during a q&a period,
where i''d be changing my application periodicly, but keeping a current
version on the net, and one

Should I upgrade Samba 3.6 to Samba 4.1
Hi,
I just installed Samba on my Centos 6.4 computer. Smbstatus says my
version is 3.6.9-151.el6-4.1.
My smb.conf file only has a [global] and [homes] section.
My configuration works, as expected, from a Win7 Virtual Box computer
and a Win8 Virtual Box computer. I can see the share from the Windows
file explorer and can map the share to a network drive. The Samba server
is not virtual.

Problems getting my wireles connection to work
I have an Everex laptop (ick, but it was super cheap) that has an

my wireless in-home LAN. Here's what I've done so far (that isn't
working) - any suggestions?

dtmfmode=inband with G.729
It appears Asterisk can handle DTMF inband on only a limited selection of
formats, of which G.729 is not one. The issue appears to be something
involving "short data" -- whatever that is. (I'm inferring all this from
looking at dsp.c in the vicinity of the error message I was getting, which
pointed to line 1424.)
What *is* "short data"? Is this really a show-stopper for
