I have been working on this for a few days now without luck, Any help would be appreciated. Here is the error, the script follows. Traceback (most recent call first): File

dracut-initqueue errors while using virt-install + kickstart file
I am trying to install a CentOS qemu/kvm virtual machine using a virt-install script[1]. Since Anaconda text user interface does not permit to users to edit filesystem type and mount points[2], I decided to use a kickstart file to customize such settings. To create a kickstart file, I used a trick: I installed a CentOS machine using Anaconda graphical user interface, and I made all customizations

Kickstart from floppy falling into regular install
I took my anaconda-ks.cfg file, cp to ks.cfg and copied to a floppy The isos have been copied to an ftp server. So I had the following lines in my ks.cfg intall url ftp://10.1.1.1// (yes the ftp server's directory is the Centos directory) This is along with all the appropriate network command to get the ethernet setup. I issue the linux ks=floppy (also tried linux

slapd 100% cpu
Greetings, We have been attempting to set up a centos ldap server and then tried to log in with a user account specified in our ldap environment on a centos workstation. As soon as we attempt any kind of login from the centos workstation, be it via gdm or su ldap_user, the slapd process on the ldap server goes to 100% cpu. Is this normal behaviour?

Building CentOS 6.2 custom install media
Hi, For the OLPC school server ("XS") we are planning to move from our dated F9 setup to CentOS 6.2. Thanks for all the effort involved in producing this distro. One important part of this project is a 'respin' of the install media - we need to add a handful of packages from external repositories, and maybe run a command late in the install. Are the scripts/configurations used

reposync
Hello, During a reposync of the centos base mirror, how come there are more packages downloaded than the iso file contains... The iso's Packages directory contains 3956 rpm packages. The reposync of base holds 6381 rpm packages. This was done using centos's default yum repo file [base] name=CentOS-$releasever - Base

Runing multiple daemons with systemctl
Hi all, I am doing some tests with a CentOS7 vm image before to enter in our production environment. I need to migrate some sysvinit scripts to systemctl. In all of them I need to launch some daemons in the same init script. For example: a) start daemon1 b) if daemon1 returns no startup errors, launch daemon2 c) if daemon1 returns any startup error, doesn't start daemon2 and exit. Is it

PXE / Kickstart / nfs ....
hello there, I wonder if you could help me: I am trying to install 50 diskless servers using PXE / kickstart, it all starts well, DHCP server issues a dynamic address, tftp issues the kickstart file, the client starts reading the KS file but at some point anaconda brings up an unhandled exception related to Python when reading Comps.xml?? What is really unsettling is the fact that if I plug

PXE boot, Kickstart NFS install and %include...
I was just wondering how (or indeed if) people use the %include directive in Kickstart configuration files when building systems via NFS. I've been trying to modularise our Kickstart files a little to make things more readable, having generic defaults and role specific stuff split out into separate configs. I've tried this configuration... [root at archive kickstart]# cat

kickstart problems...
Hi, I am creating CentOS install usb keys and, apart from a few problems, it mostly works... 1. OT: My server HP does not seem to want to boot on it if I set the write protection on. 2. Anaconda tries to fetch the ks.cfg too early... It detects sda, then detects the RAID adapter, then re-detects sda with a "waiting for device to settle before scanning". Anaconda tries to access

Kickstart, package always selected
I'm trying to kickstart a Centos 4.1 system with the minimum set of packages. I have no use for ypbind so I'm trying to prevent from being installed, but kickstart/anaconda always insist on its installation (complaining that the package is missing). This is the %packages section of my ks file so far: %packages #-@ dialup kernel grub e2fsprogs lvm2 -slocate -bluez-utils -bluez-bluefw

Centos 6 / Kickstart Using degraded mdadm RAID1
I'm trying to install a bunch of C6 involving initially degraded mdadm RAID 1 Anaconda refuses to let me create a RAID 1 array with only one member. Based on some reading, it seems that I should be able to use kickstart with the PRE scripts to do this. However, after trying for a couple of hours, it doesn't seem that anaconda will allow it, it just boots the created arrays. At best I end

using syslinux to try to kickstart a RH9 install...
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem to the one I'm having, or can make any recommendations on what else to try. I apologize if this is a duplicate of something someone else has written, but my google searches have proven fruitless. Our current setup: cluster of RH7.3 boxes that we use syslinux to pxe boot for imaging purposes. The initrd has a customized

Kickstart with multiple eth devices
Starting back in RHEL/Cent 5 I found that the only way to make sure your interface enumeration was consistent after install with what you had during install was to create a udev rules file using the mac addresses as the key. It is easy to run a short script in postinstall to create it based on how anaconda has seen them. In order for this to work on Cent 6 you have to set biosdevname=0

slowness with new kernel+nouveau?
Hello, New kernel version 2.6.32-279.2.1.el6.x86_64 in combination with xorg-x11-drv-nouveau Version:0.0.16 is somehow painfully slow on my laptop. during start up it takes almost half a minute for gnome login to appear. After having logged in the following happens: - gnome top and bottom panels "slide/crawl" in to view one pixel line at a time. - starting the terminal takes much more

kickstart won't kick-off via network
Hello list, I try to do an automated network installation of centos 5.2, following the redat documentation at http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-4-Manual/sysadmin-guide/pt-install-info.html However, when installing I get promptet for various things, like which network interface I would like to use for installation, or the location of the install medium. But thats not what I
