x2go (vs. freenx)?
Is anyone using x2go on Centos - and if so, is there any reason to think about switching from freenx? The old NX client for mac was a powerpc binary and is no longer supported under mountain lion - and their new alpha release crashed my mac after an OSX update so I'm curious if there is anything better around. (And I didn't like the way the new mac version changed the screen scaling

freenx vs vmware console
After upgrading to 5.2 and the current freenx, when I start the vmware server console (from VMware-server-1.0.6-91891) in the NX client I get Xlib: extension "XFree86-VidModeExtension" missing on display ":1000.0". in the terminal window where vmware was started and a black screen where the console of the virtual machine is supposed to be. Is there a way to make this work?

xeyes kills freenx session
I was trying an assortment of things to get a remote X session working (where I had forgotten to install the xauth package...) and noticed that running xeyes kills my freenx session. This happened whether in the NX/freenx session itself or when run on a remote machine via 'ssh -Y', started from a window in a freenx session. Is that a known problem or do I have something set up wrong?

Mac client to freenx?
Now that Mac lion/mountain lion versions of OSX don't support the old powerpc binaries like the NX 3.5 client any more, what is the best approach to connect to freenx on Centos - the new 'nxplayer' from nomachine.com, opennx, or something else? Google seems to show mixed opinions and quirks with each. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

freenx disconnects?
My NX/freenx connections have recently started to drop more or less randomly after several hours. Reconnection works with everything still running. I don't think anything has changed other than CentOS updates. Is anyone else seeing this? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

Freenx/x2go on CentOS7?
Can anyone comment on the best remote GUI approach for C7 yet? X2goserver is in epel but when I tried it on the RHEL beta it only worked with a KDE desktop due to the 3d requirement of Gnome3. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

new freenx and nx RPMS released, manual action for x86_64
There are new RPMS released for nx and freenx in the CentOS-4 and CentOS-5 Extras repository. I normally do not announce that here, as those can easily be obtained on a normal "yum upgrade/update", however in this case there are special actions required *_IF_* you have the x86_64 architecture for either CentOS-4 or CentOS-5 with the current versions of nx and freenx installed. FreeNX authenticates but no desktop on centos 5 ??
Hi all, I am new to CentOS and freeNX -- both look really awesome, a huge thanks to all the people making them happen. I am having a problem with freenx that appears to be specific to centos 5. my client authenticates but then no desktop comes up. however, when I connect to a similar machine running centos 4.4, I authenticate and the gnome desktop just pops up sweet as can be. I also have a vnc

freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch.rpm is in testing
We have created a new version of freenx (freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch.rpm) and moved it to the testing repo. This is based on the code displayed at the LWE in San Francisco ... http://lwn.net/Articles/146825/ http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8489 (though it is not officially released as stable by the freenx people) This version should handle printing and reconnecting to running sessions much
