Where's My CD/DVD?
Afraid I'm new enough at this I'm still in the learning curve.
I re-booted into a previous kernel version and now the CD/DVD is on the
list (under computer) but properties reveal "unknown" for every area.
Seems strange because it knew all about the Asus drive when I first
installed the system.
So, if you don't mind, I'm ready to learn something else; how to
manually

Asterisk AMI - PHP or Node.js?
I would like to develop a Call Center Dialer (outbound and inbound calls)
and it would use AMI method to communicate with Asterisk Server.
A daemon would need to run in the background, would you recommend coding in
PHP or Node.js? which would be much faster and stable.
Thanks

Sieve's spamtest always returns 0
I am a bit at a loss here with Sieve (pigeonhole) and the spamtest
extension. I am using Dovecot 2.1.7 (backported to Debian squeeze),
which comes with Pigeonhole 0.3.0.
Messages are scanned with SpamAssassin, which adds a header like
X-Spam-Status: Yes, score=84.6 required=5.0 tests=?
and so I configured spamtest in conf.d/90-plugin.conf like so:
sieve_spamtest_status_type = score

[LLVMdev] [PATCH] Don't optimize out GDB JIT registrar
Thanks Joerg.
I've made the change you suggested and verified that it still works. I
think the noinline is still required though as this function can be called
from a couple of places and gdb will want to set its breakpoint on the
single function address. Let me know if you think otherwise though.
Cheers,
Andrew

Need Broadcom 4311 firmware for CentOS 5
Any hope of getting my laptop's Broadcom BCM94311 wireless running
on CentOS 5? I find lots of references to using fwcutter to get
the needed firmware from Windows drivers, but there's a Catch-22:
Version of fwcutter that generate files for the bcm43xx driver
in CentOS 5 don't recognize the md5sum of any currently
available Windows driver.
Newer versions of fwcutter

Broadcom wireless card: installation script for Linux-STA driver
Hi,
I just installed CentOS 6.6 on my HP Pavilion DM1 laptop. The wireless
card is only poorly supported in the default setup, so I decided to
write an installation script for the Linux-STA driver, which works
perfectly.
https://github.com/kikinovak/centos/blob/master/6.x/broadcom-sta/broadcom-sta.sh
Grab the files:
# git clone https://github.com/kikinovak/centos
Run the script:
# cd

[LLVMdev] Build bot fatigue
My inbox has been filled with llvm.buildmaster at lab.llvm.org build
failure notifications lately.
The two problems appear to be:
1) Getting notifications for breakage that was introduced by an
unrelated commit, often in a module I don't work on. Usually the
original committer is working on or has already landed the necessary fix.
2) A cascade of dozens of notifications from various

CentOS 5.3 - Activating laptop wireless card
I've just installed CentOS 5.3 on my Dell laptop and it seems to have
detected and set-up my wireless card (BCM 4311) correctly as eth1.
However, so far I haven't been able to activate it and have read the
wiki

which indicates that this card isn't actually supported in CentOS - but

Samba 2.0.7 poor performance
Recently I shutdown my RS6000 running AIX 4.3.3 and Samba 2.0.7 and rebooted. Since rebooting, the performance of the Samba server has dramatically decreased. Nothing has changed on the AIX box. I recently added a Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 to the network. I thought that may be the culprit. I shutdown that server for a few days and the problem still exists. Any help would be much

Error in SecuringSSH Iptables Description
The description for the iptables -m limit rule is incorrect[1], and I don't
have edit permissions to fix it:
"The first line will accept new connections on port 22 provided that IP
address hasn't made more than 3 connection attempts in the last minute."
Should read more like:

pop3 rate limit
Hi,
we have customers with Exchange servers that are polling for new mail every minute with dozens of pop3 accounts. I am looking for a mechanism to rate limit this per user. So what I am looking for is a way to block users from polling, if a user asks for new mail more than every 5 minutes (for example).
Is this possible? Can this be achieved within Dovecot or does it need external scripting?

creating /etc/tinc directories in make install
Hi,
I am curious why don't you guys create /etc/tinc directory, set permissions,
add /etc/rc.d scripts etc. from the Makefile(s) in the source distribution ?
Doing a make install and not finding an example config in /etc/tinc is kind
of frustrating. Am I missing something? Maybe there is a good reason for
that?
Also, why is it not finding evp.h when I try to do configure? Is creating

Help with parsing a data file
Hi All,
I need to parse data from a file, example shown below. The first two lines
can be skipped, the third line contains the column names. The next 13 lines
can be skipped. The next line "1991" is a year value, with the following 13
values data for that year. The file then repeats this format with (year, 13
lines of data for that year). I would ideally like to end up with an
