CentOS 5.2 - Nautilus - file types are not associated with an action and icons are not displayed
Hi all,
I use CentOS 5.2 as a desktop and the Gnome Nautilus doesn't display
icons related to the file types and all associated actions ("open with")
are lost. It is so bad, that the desktop shortcuts are displayed as
ordinary files "Filesystem.desktop" or
"openoffice.org-1.9-calc.desktop", and when I click on them, the
Nautilus wants to know what it should

Hi Stefanos,
Thanks for your comments. I added both as reviewer.

Can't browse network using nautilus
Hi,
I'n using the nautilus file browser in a GNOME desktop environment on a
FC2 system.
If I enter smb:/// in the location bar in nautilus I can see the
network but whenever I try to look at the shares on a computer I get a
message saying that I do not have permissions to view the contents.
I looked in the archives and found a thread on a similar problem. This
thread mentioned that

Nautilus / Desktop Icons
Hi,
I've a nautilus problem with CentOS 4. It doesn't show the desktop
items any more (also after dropping all gnome files/dirs from a users
homedir) en the right mouse button menu also doesn't work.
Googling around I've found various items about the problem but until now
not a clear solution. Some people mention some 'browser mode in nautilus
preferences'. But I

CentOS 7.5 Nautilus 100% reproducible crash.
Good day
When trying to add an 'Other Locations' in Nautilus CentOS 7.5, Nautilus
always 100% of the time crash with a kernel error.
Here is a short video showing the workflow:
https://youtu.be/dPmTDBRqL_I
This did not happen in 7.4
Both 7.4 and 7.5 runs on VirtualBox 5.2.12 - but as stated before, this did
not happen in 7.4
I also did a fresh clean install of both

CD cannot be auto mounted by Nautilus on Linux guest OS
Hello All,
Sorry to resend this email since I really want to know the answer.
Did anybody know how I could make Linux Guest OS mount CD automatically
with Nautilus? When I exposed a Music CD to my FC5 guest os on Xen
3.0.3, I found the CD wasn''t recognized as a Music CD, it was recognized
as a blank CD. In Nautilus, when I clicked the icon of CD, a empty
folder was opened. On general

Can't access Samba shares from Nautilus
Hi,
I'm currently experimenting with Samba on a few sandbox machines.
On the server side, I have setup CentOS 7 with a basic Samba setup and
two shares, one public, the other password-protected.
I have two Windows 7 boxes in my network, and I can access the shares
perfectly, log in to the password-protected share, read and write files,
so this seems to work OK.
On my main Linux workstation

Mounting NFS file systems via Nautilus on CentOS 6
Looks like Nautilus is periodically 'stat'-ing the bookmark location.
How about making a softlink to the target dir in your home directory, then
bookmarking the link in nautilus. Hopefully Nautilus will stat the link
and not the target then.

Solving Nautilus Samba issue
I'm trying to solve this bug with browsing SMB shares with Nautilus:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129890
I posted on nautilus-list about it and the response was basically, "We
don't know enough about SMB, maybe you could get a Samba developer to
help?" So, do any of you wise Samba people know what might be causing
this? Thanks for your help.

Nautilus won't start
I've been running CentOS 5 since release on a couple of servers with few
problems. Last night I tried it as a workstation for the first time. It
booted up fine and I could log into X. I then ran pup to install all
available updates and shut down afterwards to load the new kernel. (I use
yum on the servers.) This morning I start up on the new kernel and after
logging in at the Gnome

[LLVMdev] Error in building Gold on FreeBSD
Dear Aditya,
Regarding the error, it looks like binutils is trying to build its
documentation. For your project, this is a step that you can skip. You
can try using "make -k" to skip over errors and proceed to the "make
install" step. That might work.
As an aside, you should include the error as a plain text attachment
instead of taking a graphic screenshot. The error
