Ajax Response responseXML is null in IE
This may be a Prototype question but is probably a general JavaScript question. I am creating an Ajax.Request and getting back a response that should be evaluated as XML. But in IE, in my onSuccess function, the response.responseXML object is null. In Firefox it works properly. I have checked the three things that are supposed to determine whether the browser interprets the response text as

responseText Vs responseXML
This is a newbie question. If I have a xml file that I am opening using Ajax.Request, then the response is trapped using responseText. Now this response is a set of xml tags, if I need to traverse through it using DOM, I am not able to use the getElementByTagName method? If I write my own ajax function, then when I do t.responseXML.getElementByTagName(''items'') it works but

Basic AJAX Response (Mootools)
Hi, I''ve done AJAX calls to Rails'' Controllers before yet never required to generate a response back to the view. In this respect, I have tried to keep it moronically simple and just add a node to see that it works, yet the response doesn''t come through / isn''t interpreted as it should. Long story short, code : // Have to use Mootools to integrate a

Ajax.Updater form values
Hi I came across this while testing which may be somewhat unnatural but could be useful. I wanted to see the html that was being sent back to the browser by Ajax.Updater, so I was specifying a <textarea> as the target container. This worked fine in Firefox both platforms, but not in Safari or IE6. After investigating it seems that setting the innerHTML property of form objects

Ajax - Inserting selected elements from request.responseText
After retrieving a URL using an Ajax.Request... function onComplete (request, json) { // request.responseText holds the entire page Only the content contained in elementID = ''source'' is intended for display At this time, the following code works, but it disturbingly copies the entire page from the source URL into the target DIV $(''target'').innerHTML =

why is the result of expr. Ajax.InPlaceEditor not an object in Safari
hi guys. i''m really thrilled about the in-place editor and rahul''s additions/ examples at http://www.instituteofthefuture.org/js/inplace.php i know that this "mozilla only" script will eventually get fixed and be usable in safari as well, but i can''t wait, so i''ve tried to poke around a bit -- of course, without success. i am much more of an

Ajax errors in safari
I am implementing some AJAX features into a web forum, and one feature works fine in Firefox and in IE, but it is choking in Safari. Safari will send the request fine and the data will be stored in the DB, but it is not responding correctly to the RJS that is being sent back. Anybody notice issues with Safari parsing the javascript sent back to the browser? -- Timothy Johnson

Getting value of form using Ajax (and problems with Safari)

Ajax.Autocompleter fadeoff when scrolling the list in IE and Safari
Hi All: I have a very large user table, more than 2.000, so i cant use a <select> to present the users list any more. I replace the <select> with a <input> using Ajax.Autocompleter If we type "john" or "peter" we still get a very long list, so the list shows the scroll bar, and its ok. The problem is that when we try to scroll, the list fades out. It
