Draggables and Droppable performance (tips)
Hi all. I have some performance tips to share. I had been having
problems with the overall performance of the drag/drop objects. This is
due largely to the fact that my project really pushes the limits
(potentially thousands of draggables and hundreds of droppables in the
document at a time, although that is the extreme case).
Something I discovered is that the performance of dragging goes WAY

Resizeable
Has anyone done any work on a "Resizeable" class they''d be willing to share?
I''m looking to do some stuff that''ll need resizable divs, but I didn''t want
to re-invent the wheel if I can avoid it.

Dragging between DIVs with Prototype/script.aculo.us
Hi,
I''m fairly new to script.aculo.us, so hopefully this is the right place
to ask this question. I have the following situation (pseudo-code):
<div>
<Droppable 1>
<Droppable 2>
</div>
<div (scrollable)>
<Draggable 1>
<Draggable 2>
...
</div>
Basically, my Draggables are inside a scrollable <div> element (the

disabling drag''n''drop features on some areas
Hi,
I have implemented the drag and drop feature to move around some divs, but I
have a small side
effect i am trying to clear:
When the draggable div contains links, and if the user grab the div on the
link, the drag is done but
the link is also visited, leading to unwanted issues.
What I''ve tried to do is to look for all ''a'' tags in the draggable elements
in order

dragdrop patch that enables dragging from and to divs with overflow:scroll
Hi all, this is a patch for 1.5_rc5
I noticed that I was not able to drag stuff out of scrolling divs. When I tried to drag it out, the draggable would remain in that div and the scrollbars would adapt to the bigger content of the div.
This patch extends draggable with an option :tofront. When it is set to true, the draggable will be moved to the document body while keeping its position on the

Sanity check of my Draggable code
Hi all
I''m just getting started with script.aculo.us, and prototype etc.
My first mini-project was to use Draggable to adjust the column widths
in a page. Here''s the code (which seems to work) and any feedback would
be appreciated - especially if I''m doing things the wrong way.
Here''s the code:
var colSpacer
function initPage() {

droppables
I am not sure how many of you are using draggables/droppables but I
thought I would do some experimentation and try and learn how to use
them on my own.
Well, I have draggables, and I have droppables.
I do have one question for now.
The droppable onDrop event seems to pass in 2 objects, the dropped
object, and the container the object was dropped on. My question is
this, can I figure

extend classes
Hello,
How would I correctly extend the draggable class to e.g. add some resize
functions.
Any input is highly appreciated.

script.aculo.us dragging from div with scrollbar
Hi,
I''m new here, so if this turns out to be the wrong place to ask, please do tell!
I''m trying my hand at creating a page using the scripts from
http://script.aculo.us/ and I''ve run into a little problem.
If I drag a Draggable from a <div> that has a scrollbar (css with
either overflow: scroll set, of overflow:auto, since dragging the

examples of drag n drop
Sorry if this sounds cynical, ( i do love script.aculo.us scripts ) ,
but I am wondering if people know of some good real world
examples of uses of drag n drop and sortable lists.
such a cute script will likely be *ab*used as much as it is used.
obviously the point here is to use script.aculo.us to improve
the user interface rather than just have some k00l eFX.
e.g. the drag n drop instantly

RE: Question about event listener highlighting withchild elements
1. Create a separate class that has your highlight/unhighlight behavior
in it, and extend just the element you want to highlight with that
class... like this (also allows you to easily apply this behavior
elsewhere when you need it in the future):
Object.extend(this.el, HighlightBehaviorClass.prototype)
2. When defining your event handlers, assign them to variables so you

problems with quotes and escaping
First of all I''d like to say thanks for all the great work everyone has put
into scriptaculous,
I''m having a lot of fun playing with the framework, and easily moving into
Web 2.0 territory.
I''ve just hit a snag on my project though.
So here''s my code:

Question about event listener highlighting with child elements
I have created a JavaScript object which is initialized for some input
fields, fieldsets, and divs on the page. With each object i attach a
mouseover and mouseout event that highlights and un-highlights. Also on
mouseout i am trying to display the id of the object to a console. The
highlighting works except for cases when an object is the child of another
object. In this case both are highlighted

Extend Draggable
Hello all,
I want to extend a draggable object so it has one more attribute (type
attribute, so I can distinguish different draggable types).
Can anyone tell me how to do it?
I''ve search throught the examples (like
http://wiki.script.aculo.us/scriptaculous/show/ExtendClass) but I
can''t seem to understand what I should do.
Thanks for you help,

handling events: mouseover, etc.
I''m having a hard time figuring out how to handle mouseover events w/
Ruby on Rails (esp. whether Javascript takes over, or the Controller
should be used).
I''m currently trying to create a simple mouseover info box showing the
definition, and some other information, when certain words are
moused-over.
Say I have an array of Word objects that have 1) word name 2) definition

Question abour Draggables & Droppables - my code example
hi i think my example is very simple and straightforward so i''m not sure if
it meets your needs (change revert:true to revert:false from a draggable
after I drop it on a droppable so it doesn''t return to its original place.)
i did this
# 2 divs created here
<script language="javascript">
new Draggable(''drag'', {revert: false});

Passing a draggable element''s attributes to controller on drop
I''ve browsed the list and noticed a few similar questions in the
archive about maintaining the position of a draggable element after
dropping it ... but I couldn''t find any conclusion about the problem.
Has there been anyone found or implemented a solution? Or does
prototype still need to be extended to allow the persistence of the
draggable object''s position?

[PATCH server] Update app to work with rails 2.3.2
Note that this does not fix gettext for app,
that will be done separately in another patch
as F10/F11 require different setups for that.
In the meantime gettext works if manually changed
in environment.rb to gettext_rails instead of
gettext/rails
