RJS Templates and the Replace semantics
I have an issue with the way replace_html works in an RJS template. This is a copy of a post on my blog (http://blog.craz8.com <http://blog.craz8.com/> ) that describes the problem and my working solution to the problem. If I have a collection of things that are output like this: <div id="things"> <% @things.each do |thing| %> <%= render :partial =>

RE: Replacing an html chunk with a different htmlchunk
Actually, I see there are two other prototype calls: Element.remove(''foo''); Which does a parentNode.removeChild(), and Element.update(''foo'', ''some html''); Which does element.innerHTML = ''some html'', and executes any script that is in the string you pass in. -----Original Message----- From:

[PATCH server] Update app to work with rails 2.3.2
Note that this does not fix gettext for app, that will be done separately in another patch as F10/F11 require different setups for that. In the meantime gettext works if manually changed in environment.rb to gettext_rails instead of gettext/rails Signed-off-by: Jason Guiditta <jason.guiditt at gmail.com> --- src/app/controllers/application.rb | 200 --------

Replacing an html chunk with a different html chunk
All, I''m a big fan of the Insertion.* classes in prototype (Insertion.Before, Insertion.After, Insertion.Top, Insertion.Bottom). These classes solve the problem of adding new html to existing html in the desired place. Very useful. But what about replacing one chunk of HTML with another? Or removing a specific chunk of HTML? These tasks come up just as often. 1)Am I correct that

Effect.Highlight interferes with Effect.toggle
I''m using something like an accordion, but the div containers have some elements in them that use Effect.Highlight (i.e. InPlaceEditor and Ajax.Checkbox, one of my SAU classes). If I click the element that starts the Effect.SlideUp or some other similar effect, and then mouse over an element starting an Effect.Highlight, the highlight cancels the SlideUp. Or, if the Effect.Highlight

IE6 assigns "undefined" to _counted property when matching
I''m pretty sure I''ve come across a bug for CSS matching in IE6. (I''m kind of new at the collaborative thing, so I figured here would be a safer place to write this, as opposed to The relevant HTML is: <script type="text/javascript"> function getLineItems() { return $$("#LineItems tbody tr"); } function addLineItem(e) { var template =

Javascript & Scrolling
I am currently in the middle of creating a horizontal scrolling product list with page buttons that use effects to scroll from one page to another using scriptaculous. I am having problem that when the window is resized, so only the viewable area of the div changes, this causes the width to change and then because of that the scroll effect will scroll to position 2000 but then when the scroll bar

prototype.js
Hi *, We don''t know if you guys are the right audience, but we got a problem with prototype.js we need to solve. Essentially, it is a compatibility bug with the IE. We wrote a component so it updates itself periodically using AJAX. we used the prototype.js to accomplish this (using the periodicalUpdater object). now the component works fine using firefox or opera, but NOT with IE. the

Running a script after evalScripts has completed
Hello, (I originally posted this on the Prototype-Core group by mistake, sorry) I am running a request via Ajax.Updater with evalScripts = true and an onComplete function. I find that my onComplete function executes before the script content has been evaluated. Looking through prototype.js (v. 1.5.1) this seems to be caused by the scripts being executed as part of this line (1352):

onHover: can u explain me this function ?
In Sortables, we have a function onHover: onHover: function(element, dropon, overlap) { if(overlap>0.5) { Sortable.mark(dropon, ''before''); if(dropon.previousSibling != element) { var oldParentNode = element.parentNode; element.style.visibility = "hidden"; // fix gecko rendering

Ajax fade effect
I have a list of categories, when I delete one of them, I want that item to fade and then get removed. So I do the following: 1. home_controller: def delete @category = Category.find_by_name(params[:name]) @element_id = @category.name Category.delete_all(["name = ?", @category.name]) end 2. delete.rjs: if @element_id page.visual_effect :fade, @element_id

Question about event listener highlighting with child elements
I have created a JavaScript object which is initialized for some input fields, fieldsets, and divs on the page. With each object i attach a mouseover and mouseout event that highlights and un-highlights. Also on mouseout i am trying to display the id of the object to a console. The highlighting works except for cases when an object is the child of another object. In this case both are highlighted

HTML::StripScripts and markdown incompatibilities
Hi, I'm using perl's HTML::StripScripts to clean out unwanted/broken html from forum post on my web site but it also removes <http://example.com> or <user at example.com> markdown constructs. Any idea how to make these two live together in harmony? Thanks, -- http://www.cruisefish.net

document "expando" properties broken in Konqueror
I noticed that some of my event handlers and scripts evaluated in ajax responses didn''t work in Konqueror (3.5.5). document.getElementsByClassName is not defined in these contexts. I can work around this, by saving document.getElementsByClassName in a (namespaced) global variable once and reassigning it before each use. Still, this misfeature is annoying and not restricted to this
