"upstream" Storage Server fully OSS?
Is the "upstream" Storage Server fully open source, or are parts of it
closed source?
Are the RPMs to build one already in the Centos repo? If not, are there
any plans to offer them?
I am looking for something free to use in Haiti, that will offer redundant
file storage and automatic failover to a second set of hardware in case of
a failure of the primary hardware.
If RHSS is not

Centos 6: Dell GX270 fails to power down (but reboots)
Hi,
am using latest C6 on a Dell GX270 with latest Bios.
It fails to power down but restarts when running
$ sudo poweroff
I tried some google hints for kernel boot option:
acpi=force
no help, looks like acpi is working anyway when looking in dmesg
acpi=off
makes e1000 nic fail to initialize
Any suggestions?

using a custom color sequence for image()
Hi, I'd like to use a custom color sequence (black - low values, green -
high values) in am image() plot. While I can specify colors (say a sequence
of grays) to the col argument, the ordering is getting messed up. I have two
questions:
1. How can I get a sequence of say 256 colors starting from black and ending
in green?
2. How is this specified to image() such that it uses the colors in

Ploting graphics using X tints from a color
Hi,
I'm trying to draw a 2D plot using multiple tints of red. The
(simplified) setup is the following: || year | x | y ||
My idea is that each year is plotted with a different tint of red.
Older year (lightest) -> Later year (darkest). I've managed to plot
this with different scales of grays simply by doing:
palette(gray(length(years):0/length(years)))
before the plot and for each

Chromium on CentOS 6
Sorin,
Indeed, CentOS 6 is not longer officially supported by Chrome. It hasn't been for a few years, though there are workarounds[1].
It's high time people migrated to EL7.

C6 Firefox 45.1 segmentation faults
on updated C6 x86_64 Firefox ESR 45.1.0 is seg faulting on various sites,
mainly media sites. Tried uninstalling flash-plugin 11.2.202.616 but
problem persists.
Work around: installed Seamonkey from epel repo
Anyone else experiencing unstable behaviour of FF 45.1 on C6?

The case of C6, grub, and the missing menu
An important server accidentally got rebooted yesterday (ahem, shuffle).
On boot, it insisited on an fsck. So I rebooted, intending to get to the
grub boot menu, and tell it fastboot.
Nope. In grub.ocnf, it's got timeout=5, but I'd see the std. POST, a blank
for a very short time, then it would be booting. By repeatedly type "e" I
got into the menu once or twice, but trying to

C6 firefox esr h.264 support on youtube
I was able to get h.264 support on www.youtube.com/html5 on fedora 21 by
installing
gstreamer1-libav
but that package does not exist in C6 (or it's popular third party repos)
What is the name of the package which adds h.264 to firefox on
youtube/html5 in C6?

I went for C6 on a Samsung NC10 (1.6GHz Atom N270 1GB RAM), only because it
refused to boot off the C7 ISO for some reason, and I didn't want to

Odd issue with C6 and NIS
I seem to have this very odd issue with CentOS 6 WRT NIS. I have taken the package selection that I used with CentOS 5 and basically plopped it into my C6 kickstart file (see below). On C5 this works just fine and I'm able to log in with NIS credentials just fine. However, it looks like on C6 if you use a package selection like this, you also need to specify the yp-tools package as part of

Chromium browser for C6
I found this bug fix report
http://lwn.net/Articles/616130/
I thought we were not able to get Chromium for C6. Apparently it looks like
the work has been already done.
Is it possible we (hi Johnny) can get this package into C6? This would be a
wonderful addition to CentOS 6. Please and thank you.

Install C7 VM on C6 Host
I would think the same as Gordon that as long as your 64-bit VM
virtualization is running properly there should be no problem running C7 on
a VM running under C6. May I ask what the initial doubt was based upon? Has
anybody out there had such an issue before?
Cheers,
Boris.

Compile for C6 / glibc
In the hope that some skilled developers are here:
We have a commercial product that do not run under CentOS6
/lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.14' not found
Is it possible to compile software (compile switch?) on a system that
uses a newer glibc but in such a way that can be used (executed) on
a system with an older glibc (like here: compiled on glibc 2.14
based system but C6 is on
