FreeBSD 10-CURRENT and 9-STABLE snapshots
Hi, A number of FreeBSD users have displayed interest in the availability and testing of -STABLE and -CURRENT snapshot releases. FreeBSD 7.0-RC3 (for amd64/i386 only) Available

Because it's a "mini-RC" targetted at testing of one particular thing we have not bothered with setting up FreeBSD Update. You can use the normal cvsup-and-build method of doing an update

disk image creation, step by step
Hi, I am aware that it is impossible to netboot ISO files through pxelinux/memdisk and that there are multiple reasons for not even attempting it (like the operating system which will try to access a physical optical drive through its own drivers anyway, BIOS issues etc.). When people ask questions regarding ISO support in pxelinux/memdisk, they're mostly told to convert the ISO into a

FW: Trouble with ACLs
Well, I screwed around a bit and after doing a "wbinfo -u" and a "wbinfo -g" I stopped getting the "unable to map SID" error. Now I'm getting a different error. ;-D [2004/05/25 09:09:34, 3] smbd/dosmode.c:unix_mode(111) unix_mode(FC2-i386-disc1.iso) returning 0744 [2004/05/25 09:09:34, 3] smbd/posix_acls.c:convert_canon_ace_to_posix_perms(2500)

syslinux bootsector info?
Mr Anvin, is there a specific loading address used with the Syslinux bootsector (to load ldlinux.sys)? like msdos 0x70, freedos 0x60 we're trying to have a SYS program that can create bootsector for other OS's than FreeDOS only. not much luck though :( this way I'm trying to avoid the use of syslinux.exe/com (need the diskspace that it would save by not including this program) I

Syslinux 5.11-pre7 not working
Hi, I am a happy user of version 4.06 and have been hoping to upgrade the 5.x series (for the HTTP bits). I have the following problems with the 5.11-pre7 build: 1. TFTP load is horribly slow ... even when the two REAL machines are connected to the same switch. For a typical RHEL installation, the vmlinuz loads ... the initrd.img loads very very slowly and just times out (I waited over 10 mins)

Possible bug in SAMBA connection close?
Hey all, I've been fighting a samba share/unmount problem for several days now and may have found a bug in the connect/disconnect code. Basically, it seems that while everything claims to free the connection to the share, it doesn't actually happen. This is me closing ALL windows to the server: log.smbd: jon1 (192.168.200.2) connect to service disc1_pc_test as user breakit (uid=501
