Hey james and JMW: Can/Should we schedule a google hangout where james spins up a puppet-gluster based gluster deployment on fedora from scratch? Would love to see it in action (and possibly steal it for our own vagrant recipes). To speed this along: Assuming James is in England here , correct me if im wrong, but if so ~ Let me propose a date: Tuesday at 12 EST (thats 5 PM in london - which i

Ego net and merge networkss
Dear R-Help Members, I am working on an analysis of a social network of web pages. Therefore I use the STATNET package which is such a good sna package. Thank you for developing it! But now I came to a point where my R skills are not good enough for what I want. So I am asking you if you might help me. The Problem: I have a network object and calculated the degree centrality (freeman)

How big is *your* ego?
http://www.elna-america.com/tech_al_reliability.php Capacitors are one of the components on that motherboard that have a finite life span. Other components are more or less tolerant of these changes over time. Eventually the caps WILL fail...this could be 5 years or 25, but it WILL happen with electrolytics. I have a well maintained, regulated (3 phase power distribution all ups'd

Rev Your (RDMA) Engines for the RDMA GlusterFest
It's that time again ? we want to test the GlusterFS 3.4 beta before we unleash it on the world. Like our last test fest, we want you to put the latest GlusterFS beta through real-world usage scenarios that will show you how it compares to previous releases. Unlike the last time, we want to focus this round of testing on Infiniband and RDMA hardware. For a description of how to do this, see

A "Wizard" for Initial Gluster Configuration
Hi, I'm writing a tool to simplify the initial configuration of a cluster, and it's now in a state that I find useful. Obviously the code is on the forge and can be found at https://forge.gluster.org/gluster-deploy If your interested in what it does, but don't have the time to look at the code I've uploaded a video to youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxyPLnlCdhA Feedback

Reducing the deleterious effects of ego related issues on the list: growing up individually.
Folks, I *suggest* that little or no reply to this is warranted. It's just the statements of an old fart trying to make a (slightly) better environment for all of us. These thoughts are offered for consideration and use as you see fit. For some, "Hey, that'll work for me too" is the hoped for result. No discussion is intended or warranted, IMO. GlusterFS performance
GlusterFS newbie (less than a week) here. Running GlusterFS 3.2.6 servers on Dell PE2900 systems with four 3.16 GHz Xeon cores and 16 GB memory under CentOS 5.8. For this test, I have a distributed volume of one brick only, so no replication. I have made performance measurements with both dd and Bonnie++, and they confirm each other; here I report only the dd numbers (using bs=1024k). File

File locking: is there some kind of timeout I can alter?
Hi, I have a problem, that occurs once a week: when my boss opens some files with read/write access via vpn over a crappy internet connection and his connection gets terminated, some files are still locked read-only after several hours/half a day or more. Only restarting the appropriate smbd daemon helps. Is there an option or anything I can modify, that allows me to improve this situation?

Samba 3.0: Cannot alter user settings with pdbedit
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 After a failed migrate from NT4 to Samba 3.0 using the rpc vampire method I decided I'd do it manually with 'net rpc samdump'. Well it sort of worked, except I can't edit any of the users settings, it might just be me, but it should modify the profile to that, just as a test but it doesn't. I'd actually like to get rid of the

Unable to alter permissions on Linux client
Hi, I'm sorry, if this has been asked a 1000 times, but I've been going through the docs and using google for the past 2 hours and everything I have tried seems to fail. I've decided to give samba a go at file serving, as nfs is proving to be not that reliable., and I would also like to be able to access certain files on my windows machines. I'm currently running the following:
