DECT phone for home: siemens A510 v. Grandstream DP715
I have an asterisk server at home. I'm looking to replace my internal
phones with sip cordless (DECT) phones. I'm now looking at the Siemens
A510IP base ($90 ) and A510H handset ($40) and the Grandview DP715 base
($80) and DP710 handset ($45).
The Siemens has a feature were I can also use a PSTN landline, but I not
sure that's a great benefit.
Has anybody tried these phones? I

Intro to DECT vs IP
We've deoplyed a number of pure VoIP wireless (wifi & proprietary) phones, but not dect.
Is there a simple overview of integrating DECT phones with Asterisk somewhere? I assume the DECT basestation has a multi-account SIP VoIP interface, and the handsets are just plain old dect?
Can you push configuration info to individual phones? (Are they individually addressible / configurable

DECT SIP phones
Hi folks:
I know it's come up a few times before, but I need some more detail.
I'm looking for a SIP DECT (cordless) phone for North American
installations. I've heard only of the Siemens Gigaset S450/C450 phones.
Apparently these aren't sold for use in NAm, even though they're
supposed to be legal (in the United States, anyway).
On top of that, I understand they have some

DECT to SIP gateway experiences
G'day. I hope this isn't off-topic for the list.
I am looking at an Asterisk setup that includes cordless phones. The
three choices I can see, at this stage, are:
* wifi phones
* an ATA and a cordless analog phone
* a DECT to SIP basestation
The various wifi phone options don't grab us as suitable -- they are
costly, have poor battery life and even the best have pretty mixed

DECT delay once hungup
I've got the following setup:
IAXy -> Dect Base Station.
When you dial from a SIP phone (cisco 7960), the rings with very little
delay. However, if you hangup it takes 3-4 rings after hanging up before
the dect base station phone stops ringing. The same applies when an
incoming call is directed from PSTN FXO -> Dect Base.
Is there a fix to this I've looked about on voip-info but

OT - DECT handset with Line key
Hi,
I need to replace digital handsets in offices where there cabling is
appareantly not Ethernet-compliant.
Today's usage is to press a key to toggle between private ou public line
before issuing an outgoing call.
Are you aware of a DECT handset (to overcome cabling limitations) that mimic
this line-key behaviour ?
For instance, acceptable behaviours would be to dial number string and press

OT - Is handover included in DECT GAP ?
Hi,
Do you if a DECT-GAP (or DECT-CAP) compliant handset MUST or MAY support
roaming and handover and are these functions transparent for handset (then,
these functions are implemented in DECT base stations) ?

Anyone that know of DECT "client" for asterisk?
Anyone here that knows some hardware USB "client" (DECT) that can connect to
a DECT base station and act as a "provider" in asterisk?
Ergo, asterisk is the DECT handset, and connects to the DECT base station.
Its also important that it also works with most asterisk-compatible devices,
including for example raspberry's.
The reason I ask, is that many providers in

DECT and Asterisk...
Hi folks,
The recent mention of DECT on this list has got me thinking.......
(yeah dangerours!)
I have very little experience/knowledge with DECT and mainly where I
have seen it used in a multibase base situation where handoff between
bases occurr. This has been and ericsson system used as an adjuct to an
ericsson pbx on a large multistorey property.
If I remember correctly the bases are fed 2

DECT gateways
Heya list,
I need some advice/experience.
Some of our customers are asking us about DECT solutions for
their asterisk install. Some others will not go to asterisk
if there won't be a DECT solution.
They now have a Siemens or a Samsung PBX. Those PBX-es come
with a DECT basestation and optionally repeaters etc.
All those basestations speak some own protocol to the PBX,
so we cannot use them

Anyone used Siemens SIP/Dect phones?
Hi all,
I am close to purchasing some new DECT phones for our home office here
in the UK.
We use Asterisk and I am sorely tempted by the Siemens C475IP or the
"soon-to-become-available-in-the-uk" S685IP.
Both systems have great feature sets and, on-paper at least, look to be
the bee's knees.
Anyone got any skeletons on them?
Thanks

Wi-SIP vs. SIP-DECT
Anybody care to muse on Wi-SIP vs. SIP-DECT?
My limited research indicates that none of the WiSip phones will ever be
able to match the performance of DECT phones. Maybe I'm wrong but a
Wi-SIP phone seems like a DIESEL sports car. There is nothing wrong
with the technology, but it seems like a shoe-horned fit into the
requirements of a wireless endpoint. DECT uses a wireless radio layer
