Konqueror compatibility
Thomas,
currently the script.aculo.us scripts have some workarounds for Safari
that should be extended to more generally cover all khtml-based
browsers, Konqueror in particular.
In prototype.js, there is a workaround for an addEventListener bug that
affects Konqueror as well as Safari, controls.js has a similar
workaround, and the special case in dragdrop.js doesn''t hurt anyway.

cross-fade effect on elements updated by ajax.updater?
Hello.
I was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction of
creating a cross-fade effect for Ajax.Updater. If you have an element
that gets replaced by a new one with Ajax.Updater, how can we blend
one into the other?
Many thanks.

safari vs. firefox on mac os x: flickering combination effects
Hi.
I''m wondering if this is a documented problem. Combination effects
such as .BlindDown or .SlideDown exhibit a not so fun flicker at the
end of their rendering process in Firefox on Mac OS X. This does NOT
happen in Safari.
Does anybody know how to fix this or if it will get fixed in a next
release?
All best,

why is the result of expr. Ajax.InPlaceEditor not an object in Safari
hi guys.
i''m really thrilled about the in-place editor and rahul''s additions/
examples at http://www.instituteofthefuture.org/js/inplace.php
i know that this "mozilla only" script will eventually get fixed and
be usable in safari as well, but i can''t wait, so i''ve tried to poke
around a bit -- of course, without success. i am much more of an

HABTM Movable Select Box
Hi,
I found it a while ago, an add-on to Rails for supporting movable select
boxes, but I searched through the wiki and the mailing list and couldnt
find what I was looking for. I was hoping someone might know of or
remember something about the project.
Thanks,
Dylan.

Ajax.InPlaceEditor on Safari & Firefox
Hi,
I''ve downloaded the latest svn trunk and was glad to see that
Ajax.InPlaceEditor forms can now be correctly submitted on Safari as
well, with the server response being correctly displayed as well.
The problem is, however, that clicking again on the same element
(after sumbitting it first) will duplicate the submit form. The next
attempt will triplicate it etc, etc...
Could

Documentation generator?
I''m looking for a documentation generator for JavaScript code that can
handle the coding style used in prototype.js and script.aculo.us. Any
recommendations for such a tool?
In a similar vein, does it make a noticeable difference in production
when comments are removed and several script files are combined into a
single one?

Validation Reflection plugin
The validation reflection plugin adds three things
(1) Reflective access to validations
- ModelClass.reflect_on_all_validations
- ModelClass.reflect_on_validations_for(:property)
(2) It provides "declarative" methods for defining
validations based on database metadata
- validates_presence_of_mandatory_content_columns
- validates_lengths_of_string_attributes

In-place editor for a whole form?
I want to implement in-place editing for a hierarchical structure where
the nodes are not simple text fields, but need to be represented by at
least two input elements.
The Rails helpers only support in-place editing for a text field,
scriptaculous''s controls.js beyond that implements support for an
in-place editor containing a select element. I need an editor where I

autocomplete: how to access a child element of <li>
hi.
i promise this will be my last question for the day.
still playing with autocompleter, everything is working ok, but i''m
having difficulties accessing just the href attribute of <a> element,
which is a child of <li> in the autocomplete response, i.e:
<div class ="autocomplete">

Autocompletion not working in Konqueror
I''ve just had a look again at the autocompletion demo that Thomas put up
at
http://script.aculo.us/demos/ajax/autocompleter
Unfortunately, in Konqueror (3.4.1) it doesn''t work at all. Not even an
error is triggered. It does work nicely in Firefox. How about Safari?
I don''t have the time right now to track this down systematically (maybe
latter), but just from

examples of drag n drop
Sorry if this sounds cynical, ( i do love script.aculo.us scripts ) ,
but I am wondering if people know of some good real world
examples of uses of drag n drop and sortable lists.
such a cute script will likely be *ab*used as much as it is used.
obviously the point here is to use script.aculo.us to improve
the user interface rather than just have some k00l eFX.
e.g. the drag n drop instantly

dragging and dropping with scriptaculous
i want to be able to drag divs and drop them onto other divs. i want
the behavior to be as follows: if the draggable div is released too
far away from one of the droppable divs, then it goes back to its
original position. however, if it is sufficiently close to one of the
droppable divs then it moves directly on top of that div and stays
there. this is the way dojo works (with bugs).

array) functionality
-> Capability to remove draggables/droppables and redeclare sortables
-> Effect.ScrollTo
-> Fix memory leaks in IE and Gecko
-> Make some 3rd-party js libraries comaptible, namely IE7.js

Prototype "classes" and inheritance
JavaScript doesn''t (yet) have a notion of classes. Prototype.js just
adds a suitable convention for implementing them. It provides a way to
create a new class by extending a base class using Object.extend, but
it doesn''t handle method inheritance. There are ways of doing
implementing this through traversing the chain of prototypes, but I''m
not sure they are

Docs for prototype.js
I just found this (by way of comp.lang.javascript), and article on the
use of and reference for prototype.js.
http://www.sergiopereira.com/articles/prototype.js.html
I haven''t checked the details, but it looks pretty good. The author
points out that it is un-official. Sam, if you''re reading this, is
there a chance of giving it an official blessing?

new idea for dragdrop library
Hi,
I''ve been working on new ideas for a JavaScript drag and drop library.
I haven''t found a drag and drop library flexible enough for my needs
and I think I have come up with something that is generally
worthwhile. I use the DOM and Event utilities from Yahoo! UI and no
Prototype.js. I''m interested in any ideas or suggestions people might
have.
